I agree that splicing-in Genes from entirely different Critters MAY eventually create some novel Problems ... MANY Genes DON'T code simply for a single Characteristic, but operate within a COMPLEX of Genes that codes for MULTIPLE Factors ...

So,your thoughts on the prospects of corporations gaining control of the nation's food supply by copyrighting our food supply is that you're happy the SC outlawed patenting human genes?Um...well,OK then.
LOL. |

Actually nobody is a clone, unless there is something gojng on in secret by mad scientists that we know nothing about.A clone is an exact copy of a previous life form created by science,ie another Erey created in the lab from your genes and impregnated into a woman to carry and deliver an exact DNA replica of you.
With animal cloning,it is far from an exact and well known science. Many cloned animals are larger than the ones theywere cloned from, have larger organs, have deformed organs etc.In addition, their chromosones show changes.Chromosones have an aging pattern. Some cloned animals show a pattern that is younger than their actual age, others show an aging pattern much older than their actual age.Clearly something doesn't always work right with the process.Does this mean the food animals cloned are dangerous?Probably not,but if some change happened that was to introduce a disease into the human body, you can bet we won't be able to tell until enough people have gotten sick to give scientists a trail back to cloned meat. |

Patent Law re: Living Things remains a Work-in-Progress ... For several reasons, I don't think ANY Living Thing should be "Patented" ... These Cases will be coming up for Review as Time goes on ... The Recent SCOTUS Decision (note: 9 to 0 !!!) gives me Hope ...

and the supreme court just ruled 5-4 that GMO seed stock was not a danger to organic crops, despite the non industry studies that showed otherwise, complete with cross pollination rates of 1 year,2 year all the way up to 11 year, which is how long the study lasted. At year 10 cross pollination was over 75%. Monsanto owns the court. Alito and Thomas both had ties to Monsanto. Alitio recused himself but of course Thomas did not.
and for further clarification I am not protecting Obama and blaming Bush. The entire political process is nothing more than a boondoggle and pay for play. Not only has it been going on for a long time but has achieved epic levels and will get worse with each succeeding presidency.

Monsanto owns the court and the USDA. Once your crop is over 10% gmo even if you are attempting to grow conventional or organic Monsanto has the right to sue you for royalties and they are suing the farmer. I cannot believe the American consumer whether right or left is comfortable with cloned animals or gmo seed stock. I cannot believe that the American consumer is comfortable with the decimation of bees which pollinate our crops with systemic pesticides in our plants. The supreme court and our congress is okay with that, of course the wheels are greased with Monsanto funny money.

I agree that Industrial-Scale Agriculture creates LOTS of unintended Problems ... But thus far, "cloned" Animals is NOT one such ...

You have to think about how prevelant hunger used to be in the world. It was almost the human condition to struggle to get enough food to eat. Alot of these advances in agriculture are what make it possible for people all over the world to be well fed. They are starting to have obesity problems in the BRICS countries and it is just all trickling down. Whereas this is a mixed blessing it is hard to argue against the end of hunger. I do think we have some unintended consequesnces from all this. Looking at all the wheat allergies. I was reading this article that people are eating alot more wheat (26 more pounds per year) but also the wheat of today is very different than the wheat of history. Significantly different and it was never tested. www.spiritualityhealth.com/articles/whea... |
