she has been spending thousands upon thousands of dollars in online shopping sprees over the months those following knew that any sanctions not targeting her had been and always were worthless... as these were hinted at a week ago she has had time to transfer money, and her father who I believe is in Britain is still unaffected. The question is: what do they do about freezing assets moved to say Belarus in the last week?? |

The EU can't do anything much about Banks located outside the EU, particularly if they are not integrated in the EU banking system. The new personal sanctions are mostly a political statement of the "you can run but you can't hide" variety. At this point, any pressure on the Assad regime to give up is welcome, especially if it can be done without intervention of Turkish or other foreign troops. |
