It was an instance to get something ginned up to further racially divide the nation, as if the govt hasnt done that enough for long enough.

The case had been completely dropped by the Sanford police and written off as self defense.  It wasn't until the Martin family further pursued the case with state and federal officials that any real investigation began.  By that time, the media had gotten a hold of it and people were in an uproar...not about race, but about the unwillingness of the Sanford police department and the prosecuting attorney to follow through on the case as should have been done to begin with.  

Yes, the media has not handled this well.  But regardless of all that, the fact still remains that George Zimmerman pursued, and in the end, shot an innocent teenage boy.  A crime was committed and no arrest has been made.  That's worth getting a little worked up over, regardless of the race of the victim.
