"These people are fricking barking"

Which people? The people behind Agenda 21, or the people opposing it?

The nutcase conspiracy theorists in the OP. It's like they believe that the rest of the world doesn't have golf courses and paved roads and so on. I see this all the time with conservatives assuming that Europe is some socialist hellhole. It's like they're thinking of a completely different version of reality.

I've skimmed it and from what I can tell, it's fairly standard environmental protection stuff. Anyone feels like reading through the whole thing (and, like most UN stuff, it's huge, crashingly dull and written in legalese), here's a link:

Ted Cruz, a Republican.Tea Party candidate for the retiring Kay Bailey Hutchison's Senate seat posted on his website that the United Nations led by George Soros is planning to use Agenda 21 to eliminate such things as golf courses, grazing pastures, and paved roads.

In 1992, the United Nations adopted Agenda 21 to “achieve a more efficient and equitable world economy,” outlining a process to eliminate environmental decay and social injustice through micromanaging industries, communities, and culture. They will meet again next year to discuss its “progress” in over 100 nations.

The originator of this grand scheme is George Soros, who candidly supports socialism and believes that global development must progress through eliminating national sovereignty and private property. He has given millions to this project. But he is not the only one promoting this plan; in fact, the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) now consists of over 600 cities in the United States.

Agenda 21 attempts to abolish “unsustainable” environments, including golf courses, grazing pastures, and paved roads. It hopes to leave mother earth’s surface unscratched by mankind. . . . Agenda 21 subverts liberty, our property rights, and our sovereignty.

Actually, Agenda 21 is a 20-year-old non-binding resolution that speaks in general terms about reducing poverty and building sustainable living environments. The U.S. is one of 178 nations that has signed on to Agenda 21 and it was done during the Bush Administration. Link

How deliciously delusional.  I've heard about being "bat-shit crazy," but just how do you get high on bat droppings or on the gases that emerge from freshly dropped droppings?  Apparently, conservative Texans know exactly how to get high that way....

That gas would be ammonia. You don't get high, it just kills brain cells. That is evidently what happened in this case. This does seem to be an epidemic among Texas Republicans.

"Barking mad" is one of the coolest sayings you Brits ever came up with.

I rank it right up there with such quips from this side of the pond as, "Don't have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot," "Stupid as a sack full of hammers" and "Couldn't find your own ass using both hands and a flashlight."
