Ted Cruz, a Republican.Tea Party candidate for the retiring Kay Bailey Hutchison's Senate seat posted on his website that the United Nations led by George Soros is planning to use Agenda 21 to eliminate such things as golf courses, grazing pastures, and paved roads.

If the Regressives such as the GOP and Teabaggers had such a wondrous and beneficial platform; why do they have to lie all the time? Can't they understand that if you have to continuously, and blatantly, lie about the opposition that you really should rethink your own position?

golf courses, grazing pastures, and paved roads? These people are insane. The tea party people are clearly insane. No one in their right mind could come up with this nonsense. Obviously jobs and the welfare of the country mean nothing to these people. Of course they have often proven themselves profoundly ignorant of just about everything a person in political office should know, so I am not surprised. And David you are right.
A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle

I cerainly agree with eliminating golf courses. They are a good exmple of a frivolous use of the land. They are artificial environments that consume an inordinate amount of water, fertilizers and destroy the habitat of a lot of creatures. All for a siily game invented by people who had a lot of empty time in their lives and plenty of land for themselves. Better leave them as natural parks. Grazing pastures, and paved roads?. Mmmm.... |

It's certainly possible to maintain a golf course without excessive use of fertilizer and pesticides. Used to happen all the time. Another thing, actually, to blame the media for: nowadays everybody gets pissed if their local course doesn't look like Augusta National. It is also possible to possible to maintain a golf course without excessive irrigation in most places; though one does wonder what genius decided places like Palm Springs ought to be turned into golf resorts. |

Actually, the USGA is supporting a great deal of research into how to reduce water consumption and fertilizers on golf courses. This is because reducing these means less costs and more profit for the course owners, making the product more affordable to the masses. Benefit to the environment will be simply a nice side-effect. From what I can see on my home course, the course serves as a terrific environment for lots of critters that would otherwise be displaced by the strip malls and housing tracs in the area. There are bunnies, ground squirrels, quail, ducks, geese, coyotes and hawks. We use quiet battery-powered carts. And the water hazards use reclaimed water. On the other hand, we also have a huge race track on the other end of the valley that hosts stock car races weekly and NASCAR races twice a year. All those hundreds of acres of asphalt and concrete don't seem to be so environmentally friendly. Not to mention the noise and the air pollution caused by all those cars. Anyway, back to the topic. ... These Tea Party types must think we are all just a bunch of morons out here. They can just make up the most outrageous lies and we will just believe it. Come to think of it, most of the stupidest chain e-mails I receive are from my Republican friends.
