When it is happening it is called a "conspiracy", ie., war is always a conspiracy - multiple persons conspire to do acts of violence. In "real life", people use media, advisers, lobbyists, etc. to conspire to profit. The term "conspiracy theory" is a form of propaganda, a means of belittling explanations which do not conform to the dominant paradigm: closed minded people often use this ruse to prevent others from expressing their ideas.
Yes, cat, I read the speech, and, yes, cat, Ike was concerned about what a huge military-industrial complex might do to our democracy, However, no, cat, he in no way was suggesting it would become a shadowy sinister organization like the Siths, making puppets out of our politicians.
But that's exactly what happened.
Of course, the unremarked, organized conspiracy of bigbucks only lasted until Jane Mayer pulled the covers off the Koch brothers in the New Yorker, so now they're not so "shadowy" any more.
But they're still sinister as hell, and Goldman-Sachs still owns the White House and their puppet who currently calls it home.

Ike made NO reference to any shadowy organization that is turning our Presidents into "puppets;" that's ignorance of the context of the speech.
Eisenhower did not use the word "puppets," but otherwise you're all wet. He wasn't talking about just presidents, but a military takeover of the entire government.
Eisenhower said (from your link)
This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
(Emphases are mine.)
Clearly, Eisenhower was apprehensive about the potential establishment of a US military dictatorship. but as it turns out his fears were unfounded, since what we ended up with is a combination financial-military dictatorship with a healthy dollop of Christ cultism stirred in to give it a zesty flavor.
btw JFK also sounded a warning, I don't have time to look for it now I have to start getting ready for the Ash Wednesday services at the White House, I will also be stopping by the nearby Occupy Freedom Plaza to visit my friends there and see who wants to join me at the White House.
We must have heard different speeches the one I heard he warned about the Military Industrial Conplex becoming to large and over taking our system, which by the way has happened, we have been in a constant state of war, spending on war and on the military is ruining our country, if thnigs don't change we will go the way of the Roman Empire.
