Airlines pay for carbon emissions

This afternoon I attended a talk by Tuvalu's International Environmental Officer. Ian Fry referred to this legislation. He said that the United States' corporatist intransigence was a problem. To stop Tuvalu and Kiribati being obliterated by global warming, the United States should be isolated, he advised.

The EU law went into effect on January 1 and requires global airlines to pay for carbon emissions on flights to and from Europe.
