It always amazes me how people will claim, in all seriousness, that they have certain rights that no one else has. Have they not read Animal Farm?
Do they not see what they are doing?
Dark Energy. It can be found in the observable Universe. Found in ratios of 75% more than any other substance. Dark Energy. It can be found in religious extremists, in cheerleaders. To come to the conclusion that Dark signifies mean and malevolent would define 75% of the Universe as an evil force. Alternatively, to think that some cheerleaders don't have razors in their snatch is to be foolishly unarmed.
Maybe he got his "facts" from the Fambly "Research" Council.
He didn't have to go outside his own group, the American Family Association. They've been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.Link
"The genius of the Constitution rests not in any static meaning it might have had in a world that is dead and gone, but in the adaptability of its great principles to cope with current problems and current needs." -- Justice William Brennan: Speech to the Text and Teaching Symposium at Georgetown University,(October 12, 1985)
Bryan Fisher, the Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association has proved that he has absolutely no understanding of the Constitution. On March 23, 2011 he claims in his blog that the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment applies only to Christians and that Muslims and other religions are only given the privilege to do so as long as Christians allow it.Link 1
He doubled down on his lack of understanding on October 12, 2011 when he wrote in his blog that states have the right to require religious test for office.Link 2
In the first case SCOTUS has ruled in Wisconsin v. YoderLink 3and Church of Lukumi Babalu Aye v. City of HialeahLink 4that the State must show a compelling interest before they can unduly burden the practice of religion.
In the second case SCOTUS has ruled in Torcaso v. WatkinsLink 5that neither states, nor the federal government can impose any kind of religious teats for office.
Such stupidity as Fisher has shown makes one wonder if he actually has less understanding of the Constitution than David Barton, something which I once believed was impossible.
