1. WOULD JESUS FIGHT FOR TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH?
2. WOULD JESUS FIGHT FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE? 3. WOULD JESUS CHEER RICK PERRY FOR KILLING 234 PEOPLE ON DEATH ROW? 4. WOULD JESUS SPEW HATE AT OR EMBRACE NON-CHRISTIANS AND SODOMITES WITH COMPASSION? 5. WOULD JESUS SUPPORT ENHANCED INTERROGATION OF ENEMIES?

Which Jesus? The itinerant Jewish Rabbi , The one Saul of Tarsus call Paul created, or they Guy who fixes my HACV? The Rabbi taught to pay taxes to Caesar, Paul said the Jesus Christ of his writings was destined to die by roman capital punishment and both were non-Christians. Are we going to revive WWJD ? For us agnostics and atheists it is We Want Jelly Donuts

To be clear, IDBC's questions were really intended to be answered by right wing Christians. But I don't think there are a lot of those on this forum. So maybe move to the Christian to Christian debate board. Though we've discussed the subject at length there as well. |

IDB--hi. Drom what I know of Jesus' rabblerousingand probable teachings I think he would fight for the poor and downtrodden and disadvantaged and those without any healthcare etc. IE--I don't see Jesus the teacher/rabbi as an RTPER. |

"Wesley told the early Methodists to gain all they could and save all they could so that they could give all they could. It means that I consider my money to belong to God and I see myself as one of the hungry people who needs to get fed with God’s money. If I really have put all my trust in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord, then nothing I have is really my own anymore." |

I have never considered myself a right wing person so if you are looking for one of those - can't help you. 1. Tax cuts for the rich, no I don't think he would fight for them, but then I don't think he would fight To over tax the rich. Or assume that the state should make the rich pay for others. See more #2
Jesus was more of an individual revolutionary - you take care of the less fortunate. Whatever less fortunate might cross your path. You don't force communism or socialism or a huge nanny state on the rest of society. You don't annonymously and without thinking just support people via tax dollars. You get in there and personally support those who need it. 3. Cheer him on? No but I don't see where Jesus was opposed to the death penalty either. I think he was a do the crime do the time person. I think it is disingenuous to paint Jesus as some sort of warrior against the death penalty. Would he personaly put people to death? No, I can't see that. There are alot worse things than death, IMO and probably in Jesus's oppinion too.
4. Spew Hate? No. But he did chastise people for what he saw as sexual sins. He did say "go and sin no more" I don't believe he would have been a "Gays are alright" person. He was from a different time and place. Jesus of two thousand years ago would be different from a walking talking modern Jesus today. 5. I don't think Jesus was in charge of larger public safety. Enhanced Interrorgation can mean many things. Some I could support and some probably not. I think you mean torture. No, I don't see him getting involved in that. But I don't see him damning the law for doing what they could to prevent a terrorist attack. He was a pragmatic person. He was not seemingly overgiven to dogmatic righteousness. He might have considered refusing to do what you can to protect people because you might make a would be terrorist uncomfortable as the worst sort of sanctimony. I don't think Jesus would have had a tremendous amount of patients for terrorists. |

Howdy
Whichever Jesus you want to pick. No I am not trying to revive WWJD. What I am trying to do is to get answers to the questions I asked. What I am trying to do is find out if Jesus would be a mainstream Republican or Democrat.

I think the term "sodomites" is a real bait term, purposely used to arouse emotions.
Please consider that many if not most heteroseuxals engage in oral and/or anal sex. ARe THEY the "sodomites" to which the OP refers? (I doubt it.) |
