When the Church becomes more than then the Church, then we all are in for trouble.

If you don't believe me, read Pius IX's "Syllibus of Errors" in which freedom of thought, freedom of speech , freedom of the press and freedom of religion were all denounced as heresy.

No thank you.

For those who have faith, no explanation is neccessary.
For those who have no faith, no explanation is possible.

St. Thomas Aquinas

If one turns his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination. Proverbs 28:9

Ken-you'e about 1700 years too late with that restriction....

As late as you would be in telling any OTHER  Christian denomination/sect to "stay out of secular politics"--as we are seeing in the current RTPER run up to choosing a candidate...

We can still try, W'gal. I don't like any religion, or any denomination of any religion, ever having secular power or getting involvd in politics. that inclues the Catholics, all protestant denominations, any and all so called liberation theologies, All Muslim sects, all Jewish ones, any Hindus, and so on and on and on. A 'pox' on all of them when they bring religion into politics.

And I am NOT just 1700 years too late. I'm thousands of years too late going back to the first time a gaggle of so called priests/shamans/holy men were able to convince others that they (the self annointed holy ones) knew what whoever the God, Gods, Goddess, Godesses of the day wanted and therefore only those 'chosen' by these deities had the right to set forth laws, and so forth.

I AM a believer. I am NOT an admirer of organized religion!

Well, Bob, a One World Government(aka "the Beast") has long been foretold; surprised that the Vatican---of all places/people---would come out in favor of it, though...

But certain groups have certainly been planning for one for quite some time, and eagerly look forward to it's implementation, e.g.:

“…[countries] would no longer be able to pursue any kind of independent policy. Sovereignty over the most powerful of all economic tools would be turned to an international monster…A world bank run by a world kingship of international appointees collectively not accountable to anyone? Heavenly days!”---Former Canadian Member of Parliament, Paul Hellyer, 1994, saying that under such a global currency/banking system “the interests of citizens, of individual countries must be subordinate…to the interests of international finance.”

With goodwill to all the People-

I agree, Dos, with your first and second paragraphs...lots easier said than done.

I am surprised that Vatican would even consider a global authority to monitor financial institutions. We already have IMF and other institutions including Wall Street who control money movements who have brought on the crisis we are in today. Another institution to control us is not what 'occupy Wall Street' is about.

Who would Vatican like to see to run this global authority? some western countries I presume?

Perhaps China knowing how to run their own house would be good at the job.

(Reuters) - - The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a "global public authority" and a "central world bank" to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises.

It called for the establishment of "a supranational authority" with worldwide scope and "universal jurisdiction" to guide economic policies and decisions.
