Former IMF Chief and possibly the next President of France is released from house arrest because of significant credibility issues. They include the victim lied about the number of children she had to obtain housing allowances, her claim that she had been the victim of a gang rape in Guinea, claimed a neighbor's child for increased tax return money... none that had anything to do with the claims of rape she charges. According to her attorney, Kenneth Thompson, there is medical and forensic proof of a rape and that the reason DSK was free on self-recognigance is "because the Manhattan district attorney is too afraid to try this case." The case will be tried though, but with the position the Manhattan has displayed... she will not get a fair trial.

Prosecutors said they still believed Mr. Strauss-Kahn had forced the woman into sex, but that inconsistencies in her past and account of the moments following the incident could make it hard for jurors to believe her.

Interesting.... in order for her to get a "fair" trial the guy has to be found guilty.

Indeed, since everyone is, biblically, a sinner, then no one is an innocent victim.

Which has nothing to do with this case except for your exceptionalism and marginization of a molested woman. Maybe rich Socialist men from France have more meaning to you than a poor and illiterate woman. I find your post totally demeaning to oppressed women everywhere. Thanks for the insight though.

Indeed. 

What you ought not be worked against Strauss-Kahn as well.  

If you wish to be considered innocent until proven guilty in this country anymore what with "trial by media", you also ought not be a wealthy white Frenchman with a reputation as a womanizer in a powerful and prestigious position. 

One need only to have seen a portion of the irresponsible assumptions of guilt ascribed to Casey Anthony to realize how little Americans uphold innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

That so many of us do this leaves me feeling embarrassment and shame. Strauss-Kahn was a victim, too, of our puritanical attitudes and tendency to rush to judgment with little foundation.
