Actually, this is not true.

As your own news sources show, the French were just irritated by the "perp walk" practise.

That was all.

from the OP source

The U.S. justice system, he said, was "politicized" and the judge appeared to have been determined to "make a Frenchman pay" by denying the head of the International Monetary Fund bail even though his lawyer had offered to post a $1 million bond.

To many Americans, the handling of Strauss-Kahn reflected an egalitarian tradition that all crime suspects get the same treatment, regardless of their wealth or power.

I doubt all men accused of rape have to post 5 million dollars in bail.

Howdy

I could understand the criticism of those who complained that the "perp walk" was huhmiliating.

I could understand those who questioned how does Dominique get his reputation back if he is found innocent.

What bothered my is the innuendoes that this incident was part of a plot by unamed Americans to have an American appointed to the IMF post.

Again I did don't know if the sex was consensual or not.   If it turns out that this woman is not as "innocent" as she was made out to be and that she has a shady past it would cast doubt on her story.

What is clear to me is that even if this was consenual and this woman tried to entrap Dominque he should have known better.  It is clear to me that he was thinking with the head between his legs and not the one on his shoulders.

Now in truth if this woman said she wanted to give me oral sex I would probably consent.

But I am not married and if she threatened to bribe me I would tell her she could......give me oral sex again.

I have never heard that from any source in Europe.

If a plot, commentators here speculated, then a plot by Sarko, to discredit his most dangerous rival candidate in the upcoming French presidential elections.

Just heard on the CBS news that the presumed victim appears to have gone  on to clean another room before reporting this alleged assault.

Seems quite peculiar to me if true.

This is beginning to look like a case that went very sour indeed and may be determined to have unjustly deprived a man of a prestigious position.

Well, I never really saw this as a French thing- the guy would have been treated the same if he were from Tajikistan-

but now that you bring it up, considering things like the Roman Polanski case, it does seem that  the French never met a sex offender they didn't like...

But  the arrest was very much "in the interest of the powerful", which would include Geithner & the US government, the Sarkozy government in France, and the developing nations that now will seize the IMF chair.

It was speculated that the US gov't was in on the plot.

And the new IMF chair was not from a developing nation.   It was seized by Christine Lagarde a noted antitrust and labour lawyer from France.

Do you know about her political leanings?

Do you know when the next election is due for the French presidency?

It seems that there are.....problems with the alleged victim.

She lied on her visa about being gang raped in Guyana.

She lied on her testimony to the grand jury.

And there is a tape recording of her speaking to a convicted drug dealer in jail in which she says

'Don't worry I know what I am doing, this guy has a lot of money.'

The Assistant District Attorney still appears ready to bring this to trial.
