I must say that this Thread -- now over a YEAR running -- HASN'T attracted much Interest, or even Attention ... The "Free Julian Assange" Movement: "!!! SMASH The State !!!" ... "!! Abolish Condoms !!" ... doesn't seem really very popular at all ... (It seems that MOST Thinking Persons aren't at all inclined to follow or support a Hacker-Burglar Privacy-Invading Adolescent Personal Responsibility Dodger like Julian Assange ...)
Break the blockade!

Feudalism. The USPTO is considering a rather interesting request straight from lobbyists via congress: that certain 'Economically Significant' patents should be kept secret during the process (PDF Warning) of being evaluated and granted. While this does occur at the moment on a very select few patents 'due to national security' for things like nuclear energy and the like — this would allow it to go much, much further. 'By statute, patent applications are published no earlier than 18 months after the filing date, but it takes an average of about three years for a patent application to be processed. This period of time between publication and patent award provides worldwide access to the information included in those applications. In some circumstances, this information allows competitors to design around U.S. technologies and seize markets before the U.S. inventor is able to raise financing and secure a market.' yro.slashdot.org/story/12/04/30/0218252/...

Interesting ... "Feudalism" and "Anarchy" WOULD partake a similar Ethos, yes ... ??? I.e., neither would involve a Governmentally guaranteed Democracy and Civil and Human Rights ... but rather, any "Order" in Society would be imposed by the Whim and Fiat of The Most Powerful ...

Internet UK. Nevertheless, motivated by national security concerns, the state has provided for vast surveillance measures over online communications. Moreover, certain filtering and tracking practices do take place. Such practices are sometimes encouraged by the state but most often voluntarily implemented by private operators. opennet.net/research/profiles/united-kin...

Tough at home. Australia’s Internet censorship regime is strikingly severe relative to both its neighbor and similar Western states, and it is helping to push the normative boundaries of filtering for an industrialized democratic state. opennet.net/research/regions/australia-a...
