The United States of America is at WAR ... But, no ... "Civil Rights" and "Human Rights" -- guaranteed by The U. S. Constitution -- are alive and well in America (FAR more so than in Countries like Iraq or Afghanistan or Pakistan) ...
A long-winded sentence for the Yanks! Let's not forget that Pelosi sat on the secret NSA wiretapping committee under Bush - rubber stamping, that the Dems gave the repeated thumbs up to the PATRIOT ACT (they were, let us not forget, in the majority at the time), and that Obama has deepened the attacks on civil rights (declaring it his presidential right to call a hit on anyone, including US citizens), expanded wars, pushed hard to privatize education, offered up a huge love letter to the health insurance industry with his health plan, stopped every attempt to prosecute Bush war criminals, and made sure to prosecute whistle-blowers, and persecuted Assange for revealing secrets he'd rather were kept hidden. www.adbusters.org/blogs/adbusters-blog/j...

War by media. In much of the Swedish media, proper journalistic scepticism about the allegations against Assange is overwhelmed by a defensive jingoism, as if the nation's honour is defiled by revelations about dodgy coppers and politicians, a universal breed. On Swedish public TV "experts" debate not the country's deepening militarist state and its service to NATO and Washington, but the state of Assange's mind and his "paranoia". A headline in March 6's Aftonbladet declared: "Assange's moral collapse". The article suggests Bradley Manning, WikiLeaks' alleged source, may not be sane, and attacks Assange for not protecting Manning from himself. What was not mentioned was that the source was anonymous, that no connection has been demonstrated between Assange and Manning, and that Aftonbladet, WikiLeaks' Swedish partner, had published the same leaks undeterred. Ironically, this circus has performed under cover of some of the world's most enlightened laws protecting journalists, which attracted Assange to Sweden in 2010 to establish a base for WikiLeaks. www.greenleft.org.au/node/50332

Yes ... Sweden has not only a VERY Free Press and VERY Free Sexual Morality Standard but ALSO a significant Political Distance from Countries like The USA ... So the Fact that Julian Assange got into TROUBLE in Sweden -- of all Places -- indeed makes HIM look pretty BAD ... IMHO, Julian needs to "clean up his Act" ...

Keeping people in the dark, creates a moral hazard.
Economists explain moral hazard as a special case of information asymmetry, a situation in which one party in a transaction has more information than another. In particular, moral hazard may occur if a party that is insulated from risk has more information about its actions and intentions than the party paying for the negative consequences of the risk. More broadly, moral hazard occurs when the party with more information about its actions or intentions has a tendency or incentive to behave inappropriately from the perspective of the party with less information. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_hazard

Yes ... Economic Facts are a good thing to know ... I'm not aware that Julian Assange, however, is in Jail for investigating Corruption in the Financial Institutions and Markets ...

Ah, yes ... "Palestine" ... ??? The "Palestinian" OverLords ("Hamas" and The PA) are FAR from being shining Examples of Sponsors of Civil Rights and Human Rights ... So, yes, I agree that it IS a good Thing to "take Side" AGAINST those Autocratic Anti-Democratic Thugs ...
Governments use lies to popularise injustice.
