Yavanna--hi. As someone who has worked long and hard for women's rights I know that type all too well. I think of them as "Southern Belle" types--whether they're from the south or not.
They sit on their uh...laurels not getting a hair out or place or their nail polish chipped--and then when it's all over--they reap the rewards AND criticize those of us who did the heavy lifting. That particular poster happened to be living in another country when the major challenges went on and has NO IDEA how hard it was to get the changes that women benefit from today. It's not an attitude I care much for--but one I run into every so often. Thank goodness they are NOT in the majority.

Never has been on my radar. In my experience women who can excel usually do. I don't have a dog in your arena. |

There are times that I wish the women who hate women's rights, would simply not exercise their right to vote. At least then they'd be principled.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells In places deep, where dark things sleep, In hollow halls beneath the fells. For ancient king and elvish lord There many a gloaming golden hoard They shaped and wrought, and light they caught To hide in gems on hilt of sword. - J.R.R. Tolkien |

Jane says-- "Never has been on my radar. In my experience women who can excel usually do."
Thanks so much for illustrating and proving my point--and so quickly too!

You chose the wrong ole lady for that answer. For twelve years I had the highest sales and I worked with four men; I just worked harder. One of my confreres liked to tease me that I killed my customers with kindness : I did. My youngest daughter, now in her early forties, lost a very-high paying position when the building boom collapsed; now she has just been made financial manager in a newer smaller company. She and her older sister both graduated from GA TECH--one highly competitive atmosphere. I like pro sports pretty much the way they are. Never was much of an Atlanta Falcons fan so we went to the home games with SF so I could watch Montana throw the football. Most exciting football throw I ever saw was by Namath at Arrowhead in KC. Still luv the Atlanta Braves and I'm partial to sluggers. There are tales about my father's mother participating in a bicycle rally for the right of women to vote : over a century ago in the Finger Lakes area of New York State. |

No change. Still the same insane internecine intrasquad squabbling. Find a lever you like and help the cause move along. We're all siblings and team-mates. We need to get our heads in the game instead of hogging the ball, badmouthing each other and feeling cross. The goal is that way and everyone has a different position to play. Okay, maybe there's a quarterback, a shooter, a slugger, etc. But no one wins alone. Pass the puck, pat the butt, and break past the pain and pant. We're scoring more than we did afore; the doldrums are past and we can see the shore! |

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard was not what I meant...
