Here's the article. It's proof that they are not interested in peace. They know full well that these armed encampments euphemistically called "settlements" are a sticking point in the peace talks. The desire to build more just shows they don't care. Is there not enough room in the state of Israel for their own people? Why do they have to build on the lands of someone else?

It's fascinating how the pro Israeli crowd is silent when shown proof that Israel is not interested in peace.

MM I'm not particularly pro-Israel and I can't imagine the Israelis giving up their "settlements". And the Palestinians don't have cohesive leadership. |

If they want peace, they are going to have to. Israel knows they should not have been built in the first place.

I can't believe it myself. They know these settlements are wrong and they keep building them anyway.

Can anyone explain what the Israelis really want? Serious question. I was about 8 when Truman recognized the State of Israel and have followed it ever since. In 1973 a tour we were on in Lebanon detoured because of snow in a pass. That is how we saw the very wretched Palestinian refugee camps. We never forgot. I would welcome any wisdom on this. J. |

That would depend on which Israeli you talk to. Many want to go back to the pre 1967 boundaries and have two states living in peace. That's what many Palestinians want too. Other Israelis want the whole place to themselves and set up an apartheid kind of system with the Palestinians either gone or in special "homelands" or as we call them int the USA "reservations." Other Israelis, the politicians are getting power from being at war.... and the same can be said for some of the Palestinian politicians too.

Can anyone explain what the Israelis really want? Serious question. Read the statements of the founding fathers of Israel. They used to be extremely clear and honest about their intentions and plans, unlike the lying weasels of today. "It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands." Ariel Sharon,

However, we must not confuse Israelis today with these dead or comatose people. We cannot say for sure whether everyone who today proclaims different goals indeed is a "lying weasel". The people of Israel are allowed to change their minds, right? I prefer to trust people. Even guys like Netanyahu, who have a record of doing exactly the opposite of what I would like to see happen - he now seems committed to peace of some sort, so why not forbear with him.
tl;dr
