Since my criticism of Israel has to do with my heritage, and the distaste I have for what is done that reflects on me, I dispute your assertion of 'frequency'. I am a US citizen, and I have criticized US policy and activities far more than those of Israel, and in much stronger words, yet I have also put my life on the line in defense of what I have so forcefully criticized. I am also of Scottish extraction and have criticized actions of the British government (but not as frequently, I am not English, Welsh or Irish). However, I hold Israel to a lesser standard than I do the US or Britain. After all, if the US or Britain were to enact some of the laws that Israel has, my criticism would include direct protest, not just criticism on an anonymous forum.
The important thing to remember about American history is that it is fictional, a charcoal-sketched simplicity for the children or the easily bored. For the most part it is uninspected, unimagined, unthought, a representative of the thing and not the thing itself. It is a fine fiction...

I believe that the establishment of a Jewish homeland should have been enacted in such a way as to take from those who had attempted the destruction of the Jews. What do I mean? The site of the State of Israel should have been Prussia's territorial boundaries. No question of the right to the land could ever have been reasonably made of such an establishment. This use of mythology to justify Israel's location is the source of all of Israel's woes. Does that somehow make me a 'self hating Jew'?

FO It marks you as a singularly ill informed individual with little or no knowledge or understanding of the the heritage you claim in your post. I would note that in your profile you self identify as a Taoist, not a Jew. This would explain the your lack of knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish people. |

Yes, having one's family killed in the Holocaust for being Jewish isn't good enough to be a Jew. One must hold beliefs that have nothing to do with why one is singled out for hatred in the first place.

I am sorry that your family, like much of mine and much of many others was killed in the Holocaust. I understand how that event could cause one to disassociate with the targeted community. You seem to have left the Jewish community before you knew what you were leaving. That is regrettable, but understandable. You should know that once one converts to another religion, one is no longer Jewish. You have cut yourself off from your heritage, your past and your people. Should you wish to learn about Judaism, the Jewish people, Jewish history and to return to Judaism, I and others would be more than happy to assist you. |

I have not 'disassociated' with any 'target community'. I am of multiple ethnic backgrounds. I am Celtic and Semitic. It is the Semitic side of my heritage that was targetted during the Holocaust, my Grandmother having left Germany just prior to Hitler's rise to power (and she was the only survivor of her family). I was raised a Catholic, as was my Father, whose Father was also Catholic and whose Mother was Jewish. My Mother was a Protestant. I have cut myself off from nobody. Interestingly enough, though you deny I am Jewish I have been targetted for my ethnicity in the past, and I expect it will happen again. How is it possible to cut oneself off from their genes? You make little sense.

FO IT IS NOT GENETICS! It is association. Either one is Jewish because one practices Judaism and associates with the Jewish community or one is not. There is no construct under which you can be said to be Jewish. Now that I know more of your background, I will agree with you that you have not cut yourself off from Judaism. You have not cut yourself off from Judaism because you are not now nor have you ever been Jewish. Your mother was a Protestant. Therefore, you cannot claim affiliation through your Mother. You say you were raised Catholic. If you were baptised (and I assume you were) you are not Jewish. You appear to have very little knowledge of Judaism, the Jewish people, Jewish history, Jewish folk practices, or anything else related to Judaism. Now that I know that despite your protestations that you have zero connection with Jews or Judaism this makes perfect sense. This discussion probably belongs on the discuss Judaism forum. If you would like to continue it there please let me know. If you wish to learn about Judaism and the Jewish people I and others would be glad to point you in the right direction. |

So you are here declaring that claims that the Ashkenazi can make genetic proofs of their descendence from Middle Eastern Jews is irrelevant? What is your opinion regarding the Kazar Empire? How about the genetic connections of Armenians to anceint Semitic peoples in the ME (possibly identifying them as the actual 'Lost Tribes")? I find it further interesting that you consider the Rabbis I know to be not Jewish either, since I "have zero connection with Jews"

FO No. I am claiming that your claims to being Jewish based on assumed genetics is garbage. The fact that a related group of people have consistent genes over time is indicative that they are in fact a related group of people. You, like Elvis, have left the building. |

Your statement is devoid of anything meaningful to the conversation, merely insulting me and declaring that the physical attacks I have suffered from White Supremacists is because of...nothing connected to who I am.
