I did not regard myself a religious person, but a scholar, philosopher, and scientist. Made quite a name for myself there, so I thought I'd tackle the Bible. Lo and behold, I learned that "true religion is taking care of widows and orphans, and keeping oneself unstained from the world." "Hey," I said, "that's me! Maybe I'm religious after all!" Then, I looked at faith versus science, and found faith defined as "the evidence of things not seen." "Hey," I said, "that's my definition of science. Maybe I'm faithful after all!" Now, science (=biblical faith?) is much used in politics. Ditto with taking care of widows and orphans. So what happened with the church/state divide? What about the science experiments that show prayer makes thinks better? Well, a closer, scholarly, scientific look at the Bible revealed that this issue is deep! If you have taken up the love of truth, and want to make a difference in keeping future political decisions from being spiritually stupid, say something and I'll raise some other interesting, pertinent questions!
