Will the Wing-nuts scream that the accused is a psychiatric therapist, and that's the issue: Or, is it just "Mooslims is evil." and there goes the neighbourhood?  What will False News tell them to think (and, say)?
A conservative is someone who believes that firefighters, teachers, and police officers are overpaid.

"Wesley told the early Methodists to gain all they could and save all they could so that they could give all they could. It means that I consider my money to belong to God and I see myself as one of the hungry people who needs to get fed with God’s money. If I really have put all my trust in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord, then nothing I have is really my own anymore."

Republicans experience suffering the way they experience all their virtues, i.e. vicariously.

According to "just war" standards of Christian theology, if Saddam Hussein killed 30,000 Iraqis, and the Iraq War killed 120,00, how was the War "just"?

Michael Savage has ranted and raved all night about the fact he is Muslim.

In both cases, it appears to me that they are ignoring the known facts in an attempt to make this a religious issue.

until there is an exact motive identified, it is an issue.  Not so much Muslim, but Muslim terror.

It's an issue for the forensic team who are assigned to piece together the crime. It's not an issue for Faux News to blather about.

One thing that several people who knew Hassan seem to agree on...is that he experienced harassment by other military personnel, over the course of his career, because he is a Muslim.

So far the facts seem to indicate that this man was a stressed out unhinged soldier, rather than a terrorist.

Not that I have spent a lot of time on stateside military bases, but I don't think people go around armed unless they are on guard duty, any more than they would be armed in a high school.

It was a civilian cop who put a definitive stop to it.

They have not ruled out friendly fire a cause of some of the damage

Just to play devils advocate.  If the shooter was names Jones and went to ABC Baptist how many on this board would be using this to say See Christians hate other religions?  I have seen way to many on this board jump to an anti-christian rant on far less.

With that said we all should say a prayer, chant, or just in general send remorseful well wishes to all that are involved.  30+, depending on what story you go with, have been killed or hurt in an act of violence that can not be explained with logical thought.

IMO all the news stations from FOX to MSNBC have speny most of the afternoon reporting half truth and speculation all in the name of ratings.

What do you think the story line would be if the shooter had his radio tuned to Rush,Glenn or any other right radio station

From AP this morning we have this

Ft. Hood suspect reportedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar'

FORT HOOD, Texas - Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire, the base commander said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said officials had not yet confirmed that the suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday, which left 30 people wounded, including the gunman.

An imam from a mosque Hasan regularly attended said Hasan, a lifelong Muslim, was a committed soldier, gave no sign of extremist beliefs and regularly wore his uniform at prayers.

Some of us had to work all day, and so we didn't get a chance to watch all of the stupid "half-truth and speculation" on TV. In fact, I didn't hear about this until I got home from work.

Consider yourself lucky the longer you where unaware of the horrors of the day the longer you had the innocence of the day.  I was home nursing a sick child and was able to tune into adult programing after hours of cartoons and such while she napped and this was on the TV, just so happened to be about the time the first reports aired.  After seeing this Bananas in Pajamas never looked so good.
