The thing abut Walmart is that you don't have to shop there to benefit from it. The low prices at Walmart create competition and the consumer sees lower prices all over. As far as worker's pay, insurance, etc., those are market factors that are complex and constantly changing. That's why Walmart could be a hero one week and the devil the next.

WAL-MART IS GREAT FOR MY COMMUNITY & ESPECIALLY ME!!!!
Look at the money I saved by shopping there! The prices are great, the food is much less than other markets. When they put in the frozen food coolers, local markets started to lower their prices (which was about time). The things I need are there & at great prices! The owners have good business sense: charge less for same items, get more customers! The employees need a job so they aren't going to complain, they get 10% discount on everything in the store. Too many people? Who cares! I get what I want & that's all that counts...looking out for #1 and there's nobody better than me otherwise I wouldn't be #1.

Wal-Mart is BAD for any community, regardless of being politically left or right.
My Mother in Law lives in a small town with limited access to goods and services. Her being able to take a thirty minute drive to the nearest Walmart to get what she can't get in town is a good thing.
For those who have faith, no explanation is neccessary. For those who have no faith, no explanation is possible.
St. Thomas Aquinas
If one turns his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination. Proverbs 28:9

I don't go to Walmart for many reasons. It is depersonalized. They treat their workers like crap. They don't buy local food from our farmers or keep their money in local banks. It's always crowded, and the people are rude. Every communicable disease in the county I'm sure you can pick up there. And last, but not least, I always ended up spending way too much time and money than I intended. I shop at Aldi (www.aldifoods.com/index_ENU_HTML.htm) and local famer's markets. The thing I like about Aldi is it is smaller, they treat their workers like living, feeling creatures (they even give the chashiers chairs!!! Who would have thought of such a thing???) Higher wages, better medical and dental, 401k plan, and longer vacations and sick days. And best of all they are way cheaper. I spend 1/3 on groceries at Aldi that I would spend at Walmart.

What I don't like about Walmart is their heavy dependence on Chinese imports, other than that, business is business.
That is not the problem, the problem comes from conglomerates that operate overseas and ship goods to the USA and then assemble the good here to be able to say "Made in USA". Ford motor has stamped right on the engine, "Made in Mexico", I bought a coat from sears last week stamped, "Made in Vietnam", so you see it ia not Walmart but the Giant Conglomerates that have caused the retail wars.
The Greatest thing Walmart does is to create competition and STOP the local panhandlers from making a 200% profit, when you can buy the same item in a larger city for the Walmart price. The best example is with Computers. 20 years ago a computer could cost you $1500.00 locally, then entered Walmart, Best Buy, etc. and Guess what? You could buy the same computer for $700.00. It ran the crooks who were overcharging out of business. There are still a few crooks left out there, but Wally World will take care of them too!
1Ch 25:5 All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer (chozeh= to see) in the words of God, to lift up the horn.

I feel like Walmart is the target of some misguided lefty witch hunt.
I agree with your overall statement that it is a target and might not deserve to be, but I think it has WAY more to do with people of ALL stripes not wanting things to change where they live, than any left-leaning movement.
it certainly appears to be lefty
Well, the campaign against Walmart comes straight from the union camp of the Democrat coalition. Left and right depend on a persons perspective.
