Disgraceful! GW Kept Safety Info About Cell Phones SECRET

Once again we hear how GW catered to BIG BUSINESS instead of paying attention to the safety of millions of Americans.

There's a new report that GW and his henchmen bowed to pressure from the cell phone providers and browbeat the National Safety Board into keeping secret a report that talking on even a HANDS-FREE phone device while driving increases the likelihood of an accident THREE to FOUR TIMES.

The agency says they were threatened with big budget cuts if they released the info.

I have to wonder--just WHO did GW care about--I mean besides his big business buddies?Is there any doubt about how we're now in the mess we're in?

GW only cared ABOUT HIMSELF--and anyone who could line his pockets.

Your link didn't work, but according to the New York Times it was Congress not George Bush that didn't want to do a 10,000 person study to confirm what was already known.

"The former head of the highway safety agency said he was urged to withhold the research to avoid antagonizing members of Congress who had warned the agency to stick to its mission of gathering safety data but not to lobby states."
"At the time, Congress had warned the agency not to use its research to lobby states. Dr. Runge said transit officials told him he could jeopardize billions of dollars of its financing if Congress perceived the agency had crossed the line into lobbying."

"Research shows that motorists talking on a phone are four times as likely to crash as other drivers, and are as likely to cause an accident as someone with a .08 blood alcohol content."
Duh! Did we really need an expensive federal study to figure this out?

To listen to the conservatives now you'd never know they were still whining about Clinton well into Bush's second term. You remember Clinton don't you Bo? Clinton was the guy who left a HUGE surplus that Bush squandered. It was Bush who's policies bankrupted this country. But as long as we can keep any other conservative from ever being President things will get better. I'm pretty sure that's doable.

The thing I find most irritating about conservatives isn't just that their opinions so rarely have any basis in reality. It's not even their incessant refusal to change those opinions when presented with irrefutable facts and logic. But rather it's their complete bewilderment that anyone else might think they should.

If people need to be told that cell phone use while operating a motor vehicle is dangerous,then no study ,report or law is gonna stop them.

Last spring I saw a woman with a soft drink,cradled between her legs ,talking on a cell and lighting a cigarette WHILE DRIVING. This is stupidity in the tenth degree and nothing anyone can say or do will make her SMARTER
