Ah, yes, suspicions confirmed.

Show me who you're with and I'll tell you who you are.

Or you can do what conservative talk show hosts do.

Take a well thought out liberal position and then push it to ridiculous extremes. Then claim that liberals all believe that over exagerated nonsense. Then screen your liberal callers so that only the weakest ones can get on the air. If someone calls in who can prove you're a lying idiot simply silence their feed and talk for about a minute until your conservative callers forget there was someone "making too much sense" on the line. Not that the "ditto heads" would know the difference anyway.

But Limbaugh knows he can sway a few moderates by skipping over the gay who's been in a 9 year committed relationship who wants to know why its anyone else's business and instead taking a call from someone claiming to be from NAMBLA.

That's one major difference between conservative and liberal talk shows. Limbaugh and his kind would never let someone like me on the air. Air America hosts always put the conservative calls on first. Although Mike Malloy will give them about a minute to show his audience how stupid they really are and then treat them accordingly. But even he gives them a chance to talk first.

Limbaugh has liberals like you on all the time.   That's what makes the show fun and entertaining.   It's my favorite part.

The thing I find most irritating about conservatives isn't just that their opinions so rarely have any basis in reality. It's not even their incessant refusal to change those opinions when presented with irrefutable facts and logic. But rather it's their complete bewilderment that anyone else might think they should.

---------------------------------------------------------

There's nothing at all new about the venomous anti-Obama sentiment coming from the right. Its just what happens when an effective and popular Democrat leads the country in a positive direction. Kennedy and Johnson had the John Birch Society. Carter and Clinton had their lunatic detractors. What has changed, however, is that the Birchers and Clinton Death List crowd used to be the extreme fringe and the GOP saw them as an embarrassment. Now the crazies are the top GOP leadership and only a few Republicans are calling for sanity. Why? Because Republicans have no ideas and nothing else to sell.

You're right, come to think of it. I stand corrected.

The unrated version of that film is definitely the one to see -- you know, the perverted director's cut.

Believe it or not, there's a better way to make fun of liberals than indulging in the kind of ridicule we usually see on Fox News (for those still watching) or hear from Congressional members of the Minority Regional Party.

Leave it to Mike Judge (credits: Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill, etc.) to come up with that better way. His new series, "The Goode Family," premieres tonight on ABC. It's about a middle-class clan obsessed with the vegan/green/recycling lifestyle.

Judge had moments in which he skewered liberal pretentiousness in his film "Team America: World Police," but that work's main targets lay elsewhere (and the puppet sex was great!). "The Goode Family," looks to stay on message. Even the family dog is a vegan, although he secretly has uncontrollable carnivorous urges.

You can see the trailer here. The show looks pretty good, but be warned, the trailer is very slow to load. What slows it down is the first (looks like about a 15-second) commercial. After that it runs smoothly.

So here's what conservatives might learn from Mike Judge about how to effectively make fun of liberals. As a first objective, try to be, you know, funny, as in "fun." It works a lot better than hissing rants informed by rage, hostility, and irrational fear, because that sort of thing just produces an impression in the listener that the speaker is suffering from some sort of personality disorder.

Oliver Willis (oliverwillis.com) called this new show to our attention.
