what if you're wrong?  Are you willing to die for your opinion?  You'd rather be right than alive?  What if you're wrong?   Your political opinion can't influence reality.  If all the junk we are putting into the atmosphere really is acting like a greenhouse and warming the earth, and you are so wedded to your opinion that it couldn't possibly be true because you don't want the liberals to be right, what if you're wrong?  Is business more important than survival?  What makes you think that damaging the current business regime would end business altogether, that they couldn't possibly survive without help?  If business doesn't survive helping the planet, does it deserve to survive?   Business did just fine with much higher taxes in the past, it wouldn't really kill it, it would make it more reasonable.  Executives do NOT work hundreds of times harder than machinists or teachers.  Executives are NOT hundreds of times more valuable than scientists or steel-workers.  Stockholders are NOT more valuable than people who do real work.  Money is NOT more important than ethics.

Kim ... do you know what the real debate is regarding anthropogenic climate effects??  Let me clue you in.

The debate is not about CO2 as a greenhouse gas.  We all agree, CO2 is a greenhouse gas with minute effects on climate.  That is a proven.  The debate relates to "feedbacks".  Ya see, it is not the CO2 that is the basis for the AGW catastrophy position, it is the nature of feedbacks.  Are they positive, or are they negative, or are they neutral.

In the virtual world of computers, the IPCC et al., have tested the impact of rising CO2, assuming that certain key feedbacks are positive.  There is no scientific evidence to support these assumptions, but none the less, the AGW crowd is adament that they are correct.  In fact, there is more scientific evidence to support the feedbacks are negative than there is to assume they are positive.  However, a negative feedback does not support the political agenda.

NOW .. you ask why am I so certain .. what if I'm wrong.  Well here's your answer.  HISTORY has proven that Global Warming is GOOD for life.  Global Cooling, severe such as the alleged nuclear winter that occurred after the astroid hit, or mild, as seen during the little ice age, ALWAYS leads to death and starvation.  IF the glaciers in Greenland retreat a bit and it warms, we can grow crops up there again (like the Vikings).  Canada would see a boom in its growing season, as well as the US.  That equals more food, more life.

In contrast ... even with the very insignificant cooling trend we've experienced over the last 5 or so years, when the trend points downward ... things go wrong.  This makes the second year in a row that the AR rice farmers have been hammered.  Canada is still waiting for the thaw so they can plant their crops. (they are month late)

NOW ... you may say .. what about the agricultural land that will be lost??  There is no evidence for it in a warming world.  You have to remember .. the tropics is NOT warming .. only the higher lattitudes warm .. the tropics vary little.  Roy Spencer shows the mechansim for this .. which supports Lindzen's hypothesis, that the storm systems act as a negative feedback, keeping the tropics at a near constant temp.  THE ONLY FORCING on the tropics is ENSO .. if the water warms due to weakening trade winds, or if the water cools due to increased trade winds.  In tern, ENSO's effects change weather patterns that effect other parts of the world.

To be smug .... I KNOW I"M RIGHT!! 

No truth in ideologically slanted statements like "negative feedback doesn't support their agenda"...

If it weren't for negative feedback in all our ecosystems, we'd never evolved into existence, golly!

But yeah, a pat on the shoulder  in an awkward moment of silence is a nice old boys' gesture!
