After years of failure, a proposed amendment to the state constitution on abortion has cleared the state House of Representatives.

The House sponsor of the resolution, Republican Rep. Debra Maggart of Hendersonville, said passage is necessary to “restore neutrality” on abortion after a 2000 state Supreme Court decision found the state constitution gives women greater rights to an abortion than the U.S. Constitution.

House Democratic Leader Gary Odom led an effort to amend the proposal to declare women would always have a right to an abortion in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother.

Odom’s proposed change was defeated with 39 members supporting him; 59 opposing.

Chalk up another victory for the rapists, incestuous fathers, and mother killers in Tennessee.

For those who would deny that insurance companies ROUTINELY STEAL from their customers let me remind you that there is an entire INDUSTRY of lawyers who work on a CONTINGENCY BASIS who only get paid if a JUDGE determines that their clients got ripped off by their insurance companies.

There's nothing at all new about the venomous anti-Obama sentiment coming from the right. Its just what happens when an effective and popular Democrat leads the country in a positive direction. Kennedy and Johnson had the John Birch Society. Carter and Clinton had their lunatic detractors. What has changed, however, is that the Birchers and Clinton Death List crowd used to be the extreme fringe and the GOP saw them as an embarrassment. Now the crazies are the top GOP leadership and only a few Republicans are calling for sanity. Why? Because Republicans have no ideas and nothing else to sell.

The article did say the measure has a long way to go.

Not to give merit and consideration to victims of rape, incest or life threatening conditions is very disturbing.

I thought those Reps took an oath to uphold the Constitution.

The Supreme Court has already decided its unConstitutional to force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term if it threatens her health or her life, or if she was raped.

These people think that when a woman becomes pregnant she loses her rights as a citizen. These people are really showing they have no regard for the lives of women beyond baby-machines.

When they suck the baby out, the eyeballs come first. Then the hands and feet.

The rest of the body is ground up in a large human garbage disposal.

When a girl has to live with this knowledge, it is worse than giving birth.

The lack of compassion these fools display is appalling.

So....

In light of this proposal, perhaps a clause could be added regarding those found guilty of rape. I propose ALL prepetrators of rape undergo a forced vascetomy along with their incarceration. Oh, and by all means, not to appear too insensitive, they should be provided w/ psychological counseling.

Interesting, disgusting statements!

I don't know what is more disgusting

- the gory story told and its bloody pictures,

or the know-it-all patronising of "a girl"
who must not be trusted to make an own decision in the first place.

When this law was passed in my former state of residence, Wisconsin, there wasn't even a requirement that the fetus be viable.

In other words, if a baby died in the womb the procedure STILL could not be used.

Clearly legislators are NOT capable of deciding individuals cases of medical treatment.  That is why it should be left to doctors and patients.

Mercy?  Mercy?  MERCY!!!????  The Scarlet Hussies DESERVE no mercy. Going around tempting men like that.  Where's your sense of decorum and decency?  AND, woman, what are you doing posting here.  You should be too busy cleaning your husband's house to have time to play on the internet.

If you have any question about one of my posts,
