Actually, I've heard the name "swine flu"  has had negative imlications and consequences already for the pork industry.  Since to the average person who does not know better, it leaves the impression you can come down with the virus by eating pork.  I noticed talk of this during a press conference, and since then our government officials, even obama, are calling it "H1N1 Virus".

It should be called by its scientific name.

Americans, and apparently Israeli's judging from the info in the opening post, are scientifically illiterate and xenophobic enough, as it is.

Thus signaling another triumph of PC and political PR spinning over information.

Calling it 2009 virus, or H1N1 virus, or 2009 H1N1 introduces ambiguity that we can ill afford... which is why scientists and medical experts will continue to call it swine flu.

There is already a use for the term 2009 H1N1, which designates a current seasonal H1N1 strain.

There are _lots_ of H1N1 virii!
