The thing I find most irritating about conservatives isn't just that their opinions so rarely have any basis in reality. It's not even their incessant refusal to change those opinions when presented with irrefutable facts and logic. But rather it's their complete bewilderment that anyone else might think they should.
There's nothing at all new about the venomous anti-Obama sentiment coming from the right. Its just what happens when an effective and popular Democrat leads the country in a positive direction. Kennedy and Johnson had the John Birch Society. Carter and Clinton had their lunatic detractors. What has changed, however, is that the Birchers and Clinton Death List crowd used to be the extreme fringe and the GOP saw them as an embarrassment. Now the crazies are the top GOP leadership and only a few Republicans are calling for sanity. Why? Because Republicans have no ideas and nothing else to sell.

Though, on this issue Rush admits the poles are accurate....he attributes Obama's high ratings to people drinking Koolaid as well as suggesting that Obama is buying loyalty be giving government handouts.

President Obama's ratings will remain 'high' IF/WHEN his plans are followed as he's proposed.
He said to the mayors [and governors]:
"What I will need from all of you is unprecedented responsibility and accountability on all of our parts. The American people are watching. They need this plan to work. They expect to see the money that they've earned, that they've worked so hard to earn, spent in its intended purposes without waste, without inefficiency, without fraud."
Let's hope they were listening ....with both ears!

I guess this is a case of conservatives only seeing what they want to see. Because your own numbers tell us that Obama was scoring about average LAST WEEK. He's gone up 4% since then. Which means, like a true champion, he's moving towards the front of the pack. And let's not forget that those of the Republican bent want him to fail. So presumably if he does a GOOD OR GREAT job their disapproval will go UP!

Right now Obama scores about 10 points higher than your party's last president at this stage. Bush didn't get high ratings until he dropped the ball on national security and allowed 9/11 to happen. I would go so far as to say that even if future investigations prove beyond any doubt that the Bush administration actually PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT 9/11 that Bush's approval ratings wouldn't drop much lower than they are now. Those would be the very same people who don't like Obama.

Obama's aproval ratings are based on the fact that there are absolutely no alternatives out there and nobody has any idea about what to do. And he is a nice guy, so people keep hoping for the best, even though, all he has done so far, is throw money at the problem. Money we do not have. Like it has been done so many times before.
The Republicans, whose only solution is the classic "lower taxes" mantra do not realize they played with it for 8 years and ended up in this mess. So they are even more clueless.
