While conservatives would have us believe that Obama is some kind of fringe element his approval ratings tell a very different story. Barack Obama is looking out for main street America. And that's a change we CAN believe in.
Gallup attributes the week's improvement to Obama's address to Congress Tuesday night and a sharp rebound among Republicans, from 27% approval to 42%.
The latest rating is based on polling conducted Tuesday through Thursday. Reaction to Obama's new budget proposal should be reflected in coming days.
Obama’s 63 percent approval level is about the same as the average of all presidents (62 percent) going back to 1968 during their first month in office. Barack Obama’s “disapproval,” at 24 percent, however, is slightly higher than the average of the other presidents (16%).
The only poll that matters is the stock market, and it is not impressed by the narcissistic sociopath and his personality cult. The stock market, and those who create real jobs and wealth in Amerika, are waiting for the next shoe to drop. Obama intends to usher in a Socialist/Fascist European type regime, with Obama the benevolent Dictator.
The only poll that mattered was held in November and another will be held in November 2010 and 2012. The stock market is a complex amalgamation of unknowable factors. By the way your prophetic voice had failed in the past so why should we listen? I remember something about McCain beating Clinton in the general election or was that Rush , or Tenac , or acumen or NJ lee? Oh well it was some prophetic voice from the right being wrong

Maybe not the silliest statememt made on b'net. But in the running.
Democrats think the glass is half full. Republicans think the glass is theirs. Libertarians want to break the glass, because they think a conspiracy created it.

That's because Obama's side is the side of patience, pragmatism, tolerance, and openness to experimentation and new ideas, while your side is the side of right-wing Republican reactionism.
Where?? What??
Tax the Rich? ... Nope! Socialized Medicine? Nope! Spending out of recession? NOPE! Appointing partisan lacky's?? NOPE! ... for that matter .. even the notion of "changing Washington" ..... NOPE!

Why is the stock market the only poll that matters? Real people don't count?
Why don't we just let hedge fund managers decide who'll be president?
It sounds to me like you're just bitter because you're aware that for the foreseeable future, Obama's side will always be the winning side, and your side will always be the losers. That's because Obama's side is the side of patience, pragmatism, tolerance, and openness to experimentation and new ideas, while your side is the side of right-wing Republican reactionism.
And the latest polls show that the overwhelming majority of Americans, besides approving of Obama, are really sick and tired of right-wing Republican reactionism.

According to a poll that was reported on CNN on Thurs, I think, something like 65% of Americans surveyed believe that we are now "winning" the War on Iraq -- acutally an insurgency-counterinsurgency that resulted from a military invasion-occupation, but I imagine it's more reassuring to consider it a "war" -- but, anyway, 65% percent believe we're "winning" so it's unlikely Iraq will negatively affect Obama's poll numbers, 50,000 left behind notwithstanding.
According to the same poll, only 31% believe we are "winning" the War on Afghanistan -- actually an insurgency-counterinsurgency that resulted form a military invasion-neglected occupation -- but with only 31% believing we're "winning," it remains to be seen if Afghanistan will negatively affect Obama's poll numbers. The surge is just beginning, already there is an uptick in coaltion and civilian deaths; I read an AP artcle yesterday reporting that more civilians have been killed by coalition forces in 2009 than by insurgents or Taliban fighters.
However, expensive, endless wars notwithstanding, what happens with the economy will be real factor that will affect Obama's poll numbers, positively or negatively
What we see, now, though, is people in his administration actually working, rather than lecturing, the way Bush and Cheney did, and that is definitely refreshing.
At this point it is the Cult of Personality that has the people excited, and the fact that the President is not a dim whit, like the failure who left us with this economic disaster.
In time Obama will unravel many 43's ill conceived policies and blunders, and left many rights, oh yea. Then you will really see the polls spike.
But lets face it, a turd in a rain storm would be more popular today than any republicans, and their old world conservative delusions!
