Reacting to disagreement by ladling out blame, doesn't help either!

I have an SUV as well. We haul dogs, fencing gear and groceries. Car is paid off. More econimcal for us to keep the vehicle and spend a bit more on gas, then buy a new vehicle, pay a car payment and spend more on gas. I wish I could walk to work or bicycle, but it is a 60 mile round trip.

I should also mention that my previous car was a Geo Metro. It got totalled by someone slamming into my back end in an SUV.  :/

Karma my friend, didn't this entire thread originate by someone ladling out the blame? :D - I expressed my disagreement with a great deal more civility than the author of these articles.

Happy Friday the 13th, all!

While "AS" may have a problem with my offroad vehicle (and following is not necessarily directed at you), you'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel .. because I'll be damned if I'm going to cowl to a bunch of PETA card totin, vege eatin, yoga doin, bead wearing, AGW believing, decieving fruit cakes from California!!!  I LOVE MY JEEP .. and prefer to make IT more economical as opposed to accepting and implementing the ideas of a bunch of dilusional, brain dead has-beens from the sixties who smoked a few too many in their teens.

BUT ... as for the subject of these supped up golf carts ... ok .. KARMA ... let me see you hook a 24 foot speed boat, or a dual set of jet skis ... or lets say a camper to the back of your little Prius ... and head to the mountains or Lake Tahoe (which is in the mountains)!  Ain't gonna happen .. cause it couldn't even stop a child's wagon if hooked behind it ... and it damn sure couldn't make it up the hills pulling anything more than a beat-nik skateboarder handing on to the back by a rope .. and I'm not sure it could even pull that!  At the very least .. I'd say you might get a few gallons to the mile on mpg.

NOW .. the Volt on the otherhand .. which utilizes train technology might be a different story ... and .. it looks cool to boot!  Put one up for the GM team.

Golly gee, Bodean. While I think PETA has it's head up its ass most of the time, Veggies and Yoga are excellent, and nothing wrong with a few beads. Did I mention I was from California? Though... I don't think I have a clue what AGW is.

G'day and thanks! Italy, at Epcot.

Do you have a need for 4WD? Here 90% of 4WDs never see dirt!

Mine doesn't see dirt, either. Not likely you'll get my husband to buy a new vehicle however, since this one is paid for. It is, however, great for hauling things.

I did that for six months over summer!

Great exercise, I'm sure.

I found traipsing to a car hire shop on wet weeks, wearing. But my doctor chided me for putting on weight since buying the car!

Happens, when you exercise less. Yep.

I noticed that all models of hybrid cars sold in the USA, were Japanese!

People don't like many American made cars. Lot of them suck.

G'day again TheWhiteHart:
People don't like many American made cars. Lot of them suck.
What went wrong?
Roo bar?
A bullbar (also roo bar or nudge bar in Australia) is a device fitted to the front of a vehicle to protect it and its passengers from damage in a collision with an animal. They vary considerably in size and form, and are usually made of welded steel or aluminium tubing, and, more recently, moulded polycarbonate and polyethylene materials. Due to the number of deaths and injuries caused by cars with rigid metal bullbars (in 2000 some 2,000 deaths/year and 18,000 serious accidents/year in Europe), the sale of metal bullbars was banned by a European Union Directive.
