From the Twelve Tribes of American Politics (http://www.beliefnet.com/story/153/stor … blackprots)
Black Protestants Black Protestant Christians are fairly orthodox in practice (59% report attending worship once a week or more) and belief (56% are biblical literalists). However, the experience of slavery and segregation has produced a distinctive theology. Black protestants make up 9.6 percent of the voting-age population. 27% call themselves conservative: 48% called themselves moderate, and 25% consider themselves liberal. Black protestants are traditionally Democrat and especially so since 2000. Black protestants mostly care about the economy (stupid).. Two-thirds put pocketbook and social welfare issues first. But this group is quite conservative on social issues: 72% support traditional marriage and 54% are pro-life on abortion. They also supportted Bush's faith-based initiative. Highly politicized, they are quite comfortable with the political involvement of religious organizations. Is it safe to say that Black Protestants are safely in the Democrat camp? Latest polling indicates 9 out of 10 Black Prorestants are behind Barack Obama. What would happen to this support if Hillary Clinton were to take the Democratic nomination? Thoughts and comments?

Welcome, etimmon.
So are you saying that Black Liberation Theology defines the Black Protestant experience. It is interesting to note that Barack Obama RENOUNCED Reverend Wright for his condemnation of White America. What is your take on that?
