. . .
SO another attack on Democracy by liberals and homosexuals. This oen didnt work...so the gays have gone back to court. Remember, if you cant convince the people, go to unelected judges and oevrturn their efforts at self government. The other states you listed are in the same boat. They are fighting and have been fighting gay marriage for years. The people of those states have fought it as well. In Vermont a court ordered the legislature to pass a gay union bill and in Mass it was a 5-4 Supreme Court decision. Mass isnt over. It looks like the people will succeed in repealing the gay marriage law this fall. So it stands thus...not one single state has ever willingly allowed gays to pretend to marry. Not one. The people fight it every time it arises. Liberalism is basically totalitarianism. Have you ever stopped to wonder why liberals always have to use coercian and never win with ideas?
Ah, yes, liberal coercion. Like that pesky Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, for example. How dare the Supreme Court actually ENFORCE the provisions of the Constitution, in the face of the people's expressed desire for laws that enshrine bigotry? The fact is, liberals ALWAYS win the war of ideas. Consider integregation, child labor laws, women's suffrage, the abolishment of slavery, safeguards on the banking system, environmental laws . . . really, I could go on and on. That's the best thing of all about being a liberal. All we have to do is wait twenty or thirty years, and EVERYONE will agree with us and deny they ever believed anything else. It's so good to be right about things. We can wait for the rest of you to catch up. Leigh |

You got it...and you are so eaten up with liberalism you dont even realize what you said. Those bigoted citizens! Those rubes and hicks and hayseeds...thank God for liberals watching out so that the people's express desires are always the desired expression. And yes the Supreme Court is a godsend. I especially like how confidently they rule from on high because they *always* have our best interests at heart and you simply dont question the Supreme Court. Their right, no their DUTY, is to overturn legislation and protect the Constitution from the people. I mean we all know we shouldnt question the doctrine that "Seperate but Equal" is enshrined in in the Consti...oops...sorry...I was thinking of Plessy v. Ferguson. How silly of me! Or should I say doubleplusungood of me? The Supreme Court doesnt need any checks. What it says goes buddy....until it says something else anyhow. It must be a newer Constitution the Supreme Court is saving now by unfinding Plessy and finding Brown. And just in time! Brown vs Board of Education ended segragation and discrimination and imrpoved American schools to world class standards. I only hope that the next time they discover a new Constitution that it will lead to such vast improvements as Brown vs Board of Education.
The fact is, liberals ALWAYS win the war of ideas. Consider integregation, child labor laws, women's suffrage, the abolishment of slavery, safeguards on the banking system, environmental laws . . . really, I could go on and on.
Then why do liberals always find themselves losing every time they face the court of public opinion fairly? How sucessful were liberals in making the case for abortion? Not very....they lost in every single state and so had the laws of 48 states overturned and 2 more modified by going around the people. How many court cases did it take once they realized they had been rejected across the board? I doubt we will ever know. They filed the first one a decade before Roe vs Wade but liberals exploit one flaw in the system. it only takes one! Lose 99 times..but one friendly judge and its done. So yes you can go on and on..taking credit for pre liberal progressive era accomplishments (passed by the people..not courts) if that makes you feel better. But deep down you know that liberalism always has to hide ...nobody but us moderates running :)....and will always have to use the scattershot method of faceless attacks until a friendly judge is found. You know you have failed in doing what the Progressives did in making good sound cases for new laws that were then passed and accepted and became part of the fabric of American life.
That's the best thing of all about being a liberal. All we have to do is wait twenty or thirty years, and EVERYONE will agree with us and deny they ever believed anything else.
Its been twenty or thrity years since liberals forced legalized abortion on us. Is everybody agreeing? twenty or thirty years since liberals banned school prayer. Thats a dead issue isnt it? It has been decades since the courts forced states to accomidate illegals and the spanish language, ordered kids bused for two hours to school, legalized pornography and banned small communties from decorating their court houses with mangers. And you think everyone said "baaa baaaa" I wanted that all along? What world do you live in?
It's so good to be right about things. We can wait for the rest of you to catch up. Leigh
That is the one thing a liberal cant do..wait for anyone else. Its just agonizing that another opinion can even exist when the you have such good intentions. In the meantime one more Hollywood bimbo screeching from the Oscars, one more hypocritical and biased yellow journalism article, one more amnesty program to dilute the voters and one more heart rending Oprah special...and if all that still doesnt work why surely there are still a few Carter era judges left around to help the rest of us "catch up". |
It seems I havent been keeping up with the news from the California wacky front. The Assembly did pass it...and the Governor vetoed it.
And they passed it TWICE!!! And Schwarzie vetoed it TWICE!!! Thanks for at least admitting you really aren't conversant with the topics you claim authority on.
Why would even Democrats do that?
Maybe they took that "ALL men (and presumably women, too) are created EQUAL" thing seriously. And that "liberty and JUSTICE for ALL" thing too. Just a guess.
...but do they even want gay marriage?
Perhpas not for themselves, but for the citizens that DO want to be treated equaly, yes, they seem to want that.
Turns out the answer is no.
Delusional as usual, I see.
The Assembly couldnt override the veto thank God but more than that the vote was meaningless because of Proposition 22.
That was 7 years ago. Well before equal marriage became legal. Besides, people can vote many things that are un-Constitutional into law by Propositions. Doesn't mean they are JUST laws.
SO another attack on Democracy by liberals and homosexuals.
How is treating all citizens equally before the law an "attack"?
so the gays have gone back to court.
As well they should. Courts deal with what is JUST, not what is merely popular - or at least what WAS popular 7 years ago.
Remember, if you cant convince the people, go to unelected judges
Just like George W(armonger) Bush did in 2000, ya mean???
The other states you listed are in the same boat. They are fighting and have been fighting gay marriage for years. This is not what America stands for. What ever happened to the 'promise' of the right to the pursuit of happiness?
not one single state has ever willingly allowed gays to pretend to marry.
This, at least, is correct. It is NO 'pretense'. |

There seems to be some matter of this being a refrain for AP teachers this year. Another CA teacher (this time in San Mateo) was removed because some ot the curriculum in the AP Psychology course made students uncomfortable. Right now all the reporting says the matter is confidential, though the district has begun termination proceedings despite student protests.
Once again, these things don't arise in a vacuum, but each case really should be looked at as an individual case and not as part of a broad Bohemian Grove plot. |
