From "The Twelve Tribes of American Politics"
Jews A small but politically active group. While representing only 1.9% of voting-age population, Jewish-Americans represent 3.0% of those Americans who vote. 21% call themselves Republicans, 11% call themselves, Independents and 68% call themselves Democrats. Political Trend: A strong Democratic group, though Bush has tried to break the Democratic lock on Jewish voters. This group puts foreign policy first; 75% of Jews say the U.S. should support Israel over the Palestinians--a figure comparable to the Religious Right--and also have moderate to conservative positions on other foreign policy matters. Liberal on economics and especially social issues...[ So who will Jewish-Americans be voting for? Who do you see soliciting the Jewish-American vote?
