A great discussion topic from the old board --
gravedoubts: Hi, all. I recently came across a survey that allows one to compare one's views on 25 key issues with the 2008 Republican and Democratic candidates. The survey is based upon information compiled here concerning each candidate's stated views on the issues: http://www.2decide.com/table.htm. I highly recommend the survey to anyone who is deciding who to support in the primaries and in the upcoming election. It is fun, quick and easy to fill out, and can have surprising results. For those who are interested, the survey is available here: http://www.dehp.net/candidate/index.php. A disclaimer: I am not recommending that anyone base their choice solely on the results of such a survey. Clearly such a survey cannot give one a sense of the nuances of a candidate's position. However, I think that such a survey can be a good starting point for choosing a candidate. Since the survey ranks candidates according to how much they agree with you on the issues, the best course of action would probably be to take the survey, get the results, and then go to the websites of the top three or so candidates and review their statements concerning the issues. PS-If you fill out the survey and wish to discover how others have answered, the stats for the survey are available here: http://www.dehp.net/candidate/stats.php. 8/10/2007 10:54 AM |

The main choices are between the Liberal, Labor and Greens parties. It looks like Labor will squeeze in on 24 November. The Coalition has been spending big on advertising! And the polls are looking bleak for Bob Brown's party.
