Christianity, like most of the other religions of the 'Book', are essentially death cults. One only has to examine the misery and horror they have generated over millenniums, and the misery and horror they yet hope will engulf the planet.

One can ask any believer in this muck as to what the point of it all is only to find that they seem utterly unable to respond to such a simple question. The reluctance, I think, lies in the fact that they know in their heart of hearts that the answer would show up, not just the vacuousness of the whole charade, but their own latent narcissism.

Mark Twain, I think, summed it up nicely when he wrote: 'Man is a marvelous curiosity...he thinks he is the Creator's pet...he even believes that the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes, and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks he listens. Isn't it a quaint idea?"

I think it is a combination of narcissism, as you said, for they do seem to believe that their deity is very anthropocentric, but also a kind of self inflicted mental neoteny.  They don't even let themselves consider a position contrary to they one that they hold, and if confronted by it, they through a temper tantrum.

You can tell that's a genuine prophecy because nobody had heard of Pippa Haywood in 1984. It came to pass precisely as I predicted.

  Every day I wake up and thank GOD for being so unimportant to the world that nobody is going to bother messing with me.  I'm glad I get to live my life in private and being 'ordinary' to everyone who doesn't know me : ))

Perhaps the difference is that I find my life satisfying and indeed fulfilling?  And that there has always been someone nearby to consider me 'special' - at least to them.

I think that way as well. I am a nobody, no one should feel threatened by me so I am unnoticed. I have the furry babies that love their croonchy treats, now all I need is the "one special someone" to consider me special and I'll have it all. :)
