A disturbing trend
Report shows rise in restrictions on religion. . . WASHINGTON - Nearly a third of the world's population lives in countries where it is becoming more difficult to freely practice religion, a private US research group reported on Tuesday. The Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life said government restrictions and public hostility involving religion grew in some of the most populous countries from mid-2006 to mid-2009. . . . The countries most restrictive or hostile toward certain religions included India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Iran, China, Myanmar, Russia, Turkey, Vietnam, Nigeria and Bangladesh -- although most of these did not show much change in the three years. Christians and Muslims, the world's two largest religious groups, were harassed in the most countries. Other religions also saw harassment, but Jews, who make up less than one percent of the world's population, saw restrictions or harassment in 75 countries. In five European countries -- Britain, Denmark, Russia, Sweden and Bulgaria - religious tension focused on the rapidly growing Muslim population, but there was some rising anti-Semitism and antagonism toward minorities such as Jehovah's Witnesses. full article: www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx... > The countries most restrictive or hostile toward certain religions included India Situation in India is bad for the Hindu majority since long time ago. The government, laws and media side with Muslims and Christians. Sometimes it's too much, like in Orissa. "Situation in India is bad for the Hindu majority since long time ago" Interestingly, some Christians claim the same thing for Christianity here in the US. |

Persecution complex?
Dark Energy. It can be found in the observable Universe. Found in ratios of 75% more than any other substance. Dark Energy. It can be found in religious extremists, in cheerleaders. To come to the conclusion that Dark signifies mean and malevolent would define 75% of the Universe as an evil force. Alternatively, to think that some cheerleaders don't have razors in their snatch is to be foolishly unarmed.

Christians in US can still manage their own Churches themselves, their Church donations aren't used for anti-Church purposes, aren't targeted by foreign missionary groups etc. Common with Hindus is e.g. their restricted access to mainstream media which has both in India and in US religion-unfriendly agenda. |

Indeed, it seems whenever a religious majority can no longer control minorities the majority is being "persecuted"............ |

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle

Excuse me? There are whole freaking tv stations, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, yada yada yada devoted to religion. They get market shares. They are a part of the so-called "main stream" media you rant and rave against. Just because the secular media points out the faults of the religioso, doesn't mean anyone is persecuted.
Just as a reminder, and would somebody put this up for me? Still having problems posting pics: amer-lit-puritan-textbook.wikispaces.com...
