The Holy Spirit was walking around on earth, gathering chemicals? Is that what you're saying? You mean walking around like a person?

There are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the truth.

Yes, the map is getting more and more pins on it.  Thanks for this further report.

One of the interesting things about talking to creationists here has been their insistence that life can't start without divine intervention, and their simultaneous refusal to discuss how they'll adjust their beliefs when life is produced in the lab.

I continue to have the feeling that the creationist wave crested during the Bush regime and all we now hear is its melancholy, long withdrawing roar (Arnold).

Blu, yep there seem to be a lot of these piece falling into place.

And I have noticed a real absence of those whom you describe above on these threads.

Enter one of Jehovah's Witnesses - me!  Well, in what environment were these sugars supposed to have been synthesized on early earth - please specify.

There are basic facts of chemisty ignored by chemical evolutionists origin of life synthesis scenarios - I will post on this thread only concerning sugars - because the evidence is actually voluminous - so zeroing in on sugars will at least allow for a shorter post.

For this post, I will just specify one fact in chemistry, to wit:

The reaction of the Carbonyl group (//C=O) with the Amino group (-NH2) yielding Imine (//C=N) and H2O (water).

This is but one of many interfering cross reactions ignored by chemical evolutionists - iot destroys both sets of molecules, btw.

The Amino group, having a free NH2, includes many amino acids, purines and pyrimidines.

The carbonyl group includes reducing sugars, aldehydes and some ketones.

One very important aldehyde in origin of life synthesis experiments is formaldehyde - this is for the synthesis of sugars.

I.e. a first step in the synthesis of sugars is detroyed by the presence of the Amino group.

Obviously origin of life synthesis requires the amino group because it requires amino acids!

And which sugars are synthesized from formaldehyde?   It, of course, depends on the environment - here is  one example":

Polymerization of formaldehyde in alkaline solution produces, among other products, the sugars glucose, ribose (as in RNA) and deoxyribose (as in DNA).

One very important point gleaned from this is that sugars (for nucleic acids) and amino acids (for proteins) must have been created separately - in different environments!

Both environments are needed - they cannot co-exist in the same place at the same time.

This may be why Genesis 1:2 states the Holy Spirit was going to and fro on the surface of earth's primordial waters.    I.e. different precursor to life chemicals needed to be gathered from different locations to be brought together to create life.

Of course, one must also input information into aperiodic informational macromolecules - mere statistical molecules are not useful for life!

Getting closer to understanding how chemistry transitioned from inorganic to organic every day:

Washington, Jan 25 (ANI): Scientists have shed light on the origin of the carbohydrates (sugars) that form the building blocks of life.

Organic chemists at the University of York led by Dr Paul Clarke in the Department of Chemistry have re-created a process, which could have occurred in the prebiotic world.

Working with colleagues at the University of Nottingham, they have made the first step towards showing how simple sugars -threose and erythrose-developed.
