Humanism, unlike creationism, doesn't teach people how not to understand the world.

By using words to mean several different things (most of them having little or nothing to do with the standard definitions of the words), creationists can slander those they disagree with freely. For example, the following syllogism only works through equivocation: 1. Everyone who is not a fundamentalist Christian is a humanist. 2. Humanism means you elevate pride and deny the existance of God. 3. Therefore, everyone who is not a fundamentalist Christian elevates pride and denies the existance of God. This is why the creationists can't come up with one definition of a word and stick to it. By using multiple definitions and equivocation, they can redefine their enemies' positions ... and make no mistake, they regard us as enemies and have no moral qualms against such tactics.

Humanism is not about elevating pride. Where do you get such an idea?

The pride you're talking about is based on humility.
It's based on achievement. I don't see where humility comes into it.
When your pride is based on achievement, it is necessarily humble because it needs nothing more than achievement to feed it. But arrogant pride isn't about achievement. It's about promoting your image at the expense of your achievements.
There are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the truth.

So what? I think Humanism is a fine thing. Unlike certain religions, it doesn't teach people to despise human nature.
Nor does it assert there is nor does it take delight in some kind of eternal punishment that some of us are said to deserve.
The World is divided into armed camps ready to commit genocide just because we can't agree on whose fairy tales to believe. The belief in supernatural religion will kill us all if we don't outgrow it.
When I first read "End of Faith" I thought Sam went too far. The more I read and listen to these "believers" the more I wonder if maybe he wasn't right after all.

Then I guess it's fair to say when human IGNORANCE is elevated above reason, above rationality and into the realms of dishonesty and delusion, we call it Young Earth Creationism.

The pride you're talking about is based on humility.
Pride is also a term used to describe that unwarranted arrogance that riles everyone else. It's a different kind of pride. I wish we didn't use words that encompass opposites. That necessitates that we clarify ourselves.
