I guess if you build a foundation to see if something is true, then find nothing to support the claim... what do you have left to do but sales and marketing? It's easier than giving up what you've built. |

I was listening to a podcast yesterday and the speaker commented that he felt that neuroscience would replace evolution as the topic for theists to debate in the future. I think this is very true. I can see more expansive conversations of such occurring much more frequently, especially regarding consciousness, our brain, etc. |

Myownpath I'm very confident that the relevance of neuroscience will become more and more widely understood. If it deflects the fundamentalist obsession with evolution and the theory of it, so much the better, as long as evolution continues to be taught in schools. |

The idea that some kids are not being taught evolution in school is very bizarre to me. I learned about evolution and that was back in about 1978. |

I decided to pull this thread and bump it forward. I was listening to an itunes podcast today that sparked my interest again as to what really goes on in the brain during religious or creative experience. The podcast (Skeptics Guide to the Universe #251)mentioned a study in which it was found that people listening to (primarily Christian ) speakers (speech of a christian faith healer)who were charismatic had "decreased" activity in the frontal lobe of the brain which is responsible for rational/critical thinking. www.theskepticsguide.org/ Anyone find anything else new anywhere?
