The question is self explanatory. Why are the lives of (insert pet here) any more valuable than cows, pigs, and turkeys? I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this. It's quite puzzling for me.

Since we're omnivores, like canines for example, we eat meat because we have evolved to do so. It's really very simple. Tastes good too. Ken

I was expecting a reply with a little more substance. That's ridiculous. Then dog owners should eat their dogs once they get old.

Actually the answer really is "I don't have a logical reason for "loving dogs or cats" and eating cows. I just feel like doing it." That would be more honest.
