This time, they want highway markers up to memorialize cows killed in a pair of tractor-trailer accidents.

Anyone else wonder how long it'll be before the families of humans who died in car accidents tear them to shreds over this one?

From article: “The group says the signs would pay tribute to the more than 20 cattle killed as a result of negligent driving this year.”

” Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman Josh Kauffman says the request will likely be denied because the state's Roadside Memorial Act specifies that only relatives who lost loved ones in highway crashes may request memorials.”

So, um, what were the “loved one’s” names? Gotta put something on those signs.

I think all highway memorials are in abominable taste.

The Animal Rights Movement is still young ... I regularly stop along the Highway to shelter or escort to Safety wild Creatures who are in Danger of becoming Road Kill ...

Seems kind of weird, I must say.  I wonder how many cats, dogs, raccoons, squirrels, turtles, etc., etc. are killed on the roads every hour of every day that get no publicity at all.

I'd rather PETA put their energies into publicising what happens to all the poor cattle in factory farms that live short, miserable lives just so people can stuff their stupid faces with burgers and steaks.

Oh, teilhard, you must be a lovely person.  Good on ya (as we say here) for saving the innocent creatures.  If more people shared your concern for helpless creaturesSmile, this would be a far better world.

Thank you ... And also with you ...

The Fact that The Animal Rights Movement continues to make such SLOW Progress is an ominous Sign ...

Just the other day I swerved to miss a cute little squirrel and ran over an elderly woman in a wheelchair instead. Thankfully, the squirrel was not injured.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gloaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.

Hope there wasn't a cell phone involved there. Wink

I think(?)that the stupid cows were negligent for being in the road in the first place.

I think (?) that there should be crossing guards hired by the state to prevent the death by negiligent drivers and negiligent cows.

I think (?) that animals should be given all the "rights" that human beings have.

I think (?) that farmers who raise animals to be cannablised just so humans given feed their stupid faces should be charged with mass murder and genocide.

I think (?) that animals should be granted all the rights that humans have including the right to vote.

I think that it was the owners of the cows who were negiligent.

I think that the reason that animal rights has been so slow is because of the assine efforts of animal rights activists to have memorial crosses posted along highways.

I wonder if the cows were Christians?
