Leonard Pitts had an interesting column today. He scoped out the top "Pants on Fire" liars on Politifact and, surprise, 90% of the egregious lies came from conservatives. I guess lying and making up "facts" are family values for some. Not my family.

And some people actually try to claim that since BOTH sides lie there is no difference. They actually believe that 9 lies to 1 is equal. It's even more strange when one realizes that those 9 lies are so outrageous that they should count as two each. That makes it 18 to 1.

Yep, the ends justifies the means in their worldview.
I liked the part about 90% of planned parenthood being abortion and later that afternoon claiming that the statistic wasn't meant to be factual. I mean, WTF? (He was only off by about 85%...being closer to 5%)

>>>>>>>> At least Canadians are doing something about it. Check it out.... As America's middle class battles for its survival on the Wisconsin barricades -- against various Koch Oil surrogates and the corporate toadies at Fox News -- fans of enlightenment, democracy and justice can take comfort from a significant victory north of Wisconsin border. Fox News will not be moving into Canada after all! The reason: Canada regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news. Harper's attempts to make lying legal on Canadian television is a stark admission that right wing political ideology can only dominate national debate through dishonest propaganda. Since corporate profit-taking is not an attractive vessel for populism, a political party or broadcast network that makes itself the tool of corporate and financial elites must lie to make its agenda popular with the public. In the Unites States, Fox News and talk radio, the sock puppets of billionaires and corporate robber barons have become the masters of propaganda and distortion on the public airwaves. Fox News's notoriously biased and dishonest coverage of the Wisconsin's protests is a prime example of the brand of news coverage Canada has smartly avoided. To roll back the last eighty-odd years, to reduce workers to the same desperate level and priviledge the rich as they were during the Gilded Age.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. ~ Proverbs 14:31
Fiat justitia, ruat caelum

You know how the Gilded Age ended in Russia......
For those who have faith, no explanation is neccessary.
For those who have no faith, no explanation is possible. St. Thomas Aquinas If one turns his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination. Proverbs 28:9 |
