If you're biracial, do you get to pay yourself?  Do I get to pay myself because the Europeans in my family tree were probably involved in the forced exile and genocide of the Natives in my family tree?  Should men pay women (okay, I'll go with that one, LOL) for centuries of denying their rights?  I'm not for paying a single dime to anyone who had nothing to do with it.  We've got REAL slaves (like in the sex trade and arguably what goes on with illegal immigrants) to free, not pay someone who wants some money even though it was generations ago.  I say, fix CURRENT problems.  I'm sorry if America didn't compensate for past evils ... but there ain't a person alive that deserves compensation for them.  I only care about those getting screwed NOW.

Erey:  I think what Weeping is saying is not just white people exploit non whites.  Exploitation has occured all over the world by every race.

That's precisely why we should focus on current slavery issues.  The best way to "repay" our slavery sins is to not have any and to discourage others from doing so.

On another note, my brother usually tells those of the "y'all enslaved us" persuasion, "Yeah?  Well, you're relative/chief/whatever SOLD yer asses to us!"

Well, I for one like diversity better.  It makes it seem like my neighborhood is better able to evolve and stuff if all the "non-whatevers" weren't told to stay out.  I consider the number of types of people to be indicative of the health of the society.  Burn all the different people, and then you're soon to eat each other.

I have witnessed real discrimination.

I've only seen not-so-subtle stuff a few times, like white waitresses ignoring Hispanic customers.  And my brother, meanwhile, finally got a chance to experience white discrimination (other than the usual "don't mess wit' me, I'm ghetto" crap), when a non-white employee in a fast food joint actually stopped making his food to make the similarly-raced new customers' food first.  And, as a woman, I'm used to being treated like an idiot when I come to mechanics for car trouble.  Like I can't tell the difference between a busted axle and a broken fan belt.  Puh-leeze.  My father was a car tinkerer, my maternal grandfather was a carpenter/electrician/etc ... I know more about a car than just where to put gas.  That kinda stuff does get on my nerves.

Born and raised.  From my perspective, it's better if you're near or in a city.  Of course, in that environment there are more "others" there, so that might be why it's less "hick" than your usual "Hicksville".

Important point of fact:

Not all blacks came to America as slaves. Many were established in the upper classes from the get-go. So, a black American saying he or she can automatically trace his/her ancestory back to oppressed slaves might not be true. His/her ancestors very well could have been pampered aristocrats.

As I understand it, there were, even in the south... black slave owners.

Have minorities been shat upon? No doubt about it! There are not many blacks in my area -- I live in Wyoming. But yet, another point of historical fact many even here in "cowboy" country don't realize. Many of the real, old-time cowboys were black. They weren't slaves or oppressed, they worked right alongside white -- and Hispanic -- cowboys for the same wages.

Be that as it may, we do have significant populations of both Native American Indians and Hispanics. And yes, both those groups did get shat upon by whites.

Well, rich, powerful whites. But again, poor, "unimportant" whites were being shat upon right along with them. And hell, I'll bet there were even some wealthy blacks and Hispanics doing the shatting. Indians, not so much, there were pretty much shat upon by the whites, blacks and Hispanics.

But, even so, the tribes that were here when the whites, Hispanics and blacks began to arrive had, in many cases, made the land "theirs" by shatting all over and driving out other, older tribes.

So really, where does it end. If you dig far enough back, we all have something to feel guilty about, if you want to play that game.

Oh, I think you must first know the past, before gloss can come anywhere near it. It's never too late to start learning.  Especially when lack of knowledge regarding racial history fosters loathing for your own race. This makes defending any other culture worthy of being perceived as inutile.

You are not separate and removed from it, either.  You can't defend other races and disparage your own or revoke your own affiliation thereto, and stand to be credible.

To insist repeatedly that "State's Rights" is an exclusive term relative to imparting in it's usage at any and all times, racist motive and intent as you repeatedly affirm, is at this point beyond being excused as ignorance . I am finished trying to get through to you. You will simply have to live with being wrong.
