Are we debating and/or discussing the 'essence' of formal debate itself in this thread? --Or are we discussing the debate/points/facts/merits, etc. of PLers debating against PCers with regards to the Abortion Debate itself? [And vice-versa.]

Well, the theory of debate tactics certainly has to do with my topic--but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking how to argue in the abortion debate, which, unlike other contreverseys, is tangled in emotion.
For example, some people go for a religious argument but the limits of that argument is only within the said religion; as I said, I like an ethical argument, but ethical arguments are limited to conflicting ethics; the legal argument doesn't necessarily satisfy ethical concerns, etc. You're right; the thread drifted.
