A PC person might respect the potential human person wrapped up in a zef, but not as much as the actual human person embodied in a born child or adult. The fact that we don't see a zef as a 'baby' does not mean that we don't care about it at all.
But we are talking about life here, not quality of life. How many mothers are we killing?
Does abortion solve the problem of rape? No, but for many victims it reduces the negative effects.
Now I will ask you: how will taking away the option of legal abortion as you are advocating solve the problem of rape? How will it improve the lives of victims who do not want to bear their rapist's child?
There are two victims in a rape that results in pregnancy--the mother and child, both deserve respect. The violence of abortion cannot bring about peace. We reap what we sow.
What does slavery have to do with an abortion issue? Slaves were individuals who were born and deserved every legal right and consideration just as any other person.
Both slaves and unborn children are human beings deserving respect.
Wrong. Personhood is a concept .............., and It is no one else's business.
The same argument could be used to support infanticide. That is why personhood should not be based on subjective opinions but facts. All human beings are people--including prenatal children.
Consent to sex does not equal consent to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. They are two separate decisions. I understand that those who want to force birth have trouble with that concept, but it doesn't change the facts.
Pregnancy is a natural process--no force involved. OTOH Abortion uses force and violence against innocent children.
