There is one group of students that have always been in need of assistance and tend to be overlooked by many.
The school vocal music associations never have enough funding and are always in need of funds. Our two local high school vocal music associations require the youth to buy uniforms but this is not their largest expense. Both schools in my area spend over twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) on travel getting the youth to the various events that they qualify for. Our youth sing at many events around the city and neighboring counties. They often have a chance to go to Washington DC. Our board of education allows just two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for transportation so the students need to raise those extra funds themselves. The students usually do this in a number of different ways, which I won’t go into, as they may be different in your area. Please think about adding your local schools music association to your annual giving list. The youth are really worth it as the do a great job and it is a great learning experience.
