i have work in sevral around the country. even when i am not feeling my best spiritualy going to serve has always lifted me up. if you want to find one in your area check with your chamber of commerce or your local red cross and salvation army and even the phone book. if all else fails talk to your pastor about starting one.

I'm trying to find out where soup kitchens are located in my area because I've always wanted to help out at one but I don't know what to expect. I just wanted to know if anyone's ever volunteered at a soup kitchen and if so, what was it like?
I volunteered once and I just wanted to say that it is a rewarding but also a sad experience. It makes you feel good that you helped feed all of these hungry people but it also makes you sad to see the state they are in and that you can't do more for them. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. It was jsut a reality check though.
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. ~Harvey Fierstein

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation that I used to attend cooks a meal for a supported shelter once a month. I have cooked, served and shopped for them.

Yes, I've worked in a soup Kitchen.
Try contacting the Presbyterian Church in your area.

I'm trying to find out where soup kitchens are located in my area because I've always wanted to help out at one but I don't know what to expect. I just wanted to know if anyone's ever volunteered at a soup kitchen and if so, what was it like? Being a man of indifference [unconditional loving] the exprience showed me how what is considered the lowest of man in our country lives. But, of course, I was already living like then so I know first handed. There are those who have a comprehension of life which cause them to want to remain there until they learn how to survive without depending on the things man have made. There are those who are there bcause of the ecconomy and/or their additions. I live like that because I have found the truth of what Yeshua meant when he said "sell everything... and follow me" (Mat. 19:16-29).
Are you questioning your beliefs, ask I AM THAT I AM to clarify them!Elijah Alfred "NatureBoy" Alexander, Jr. presenting SEEDS OF LIFE

Connecticut had an event called operation standown where we gave the homeless veterans in the state a job opportunity, free meal, medical care and a phone call any where in the world. 380 homeless veterans showed up that was something I will never forget.
