" In the Third Way poll, 72 percent said the decision to have an abortion should be "left up to a woman, her family and her doctor," while at the same time 69 percent acknowledged that abortion "is the taking of human life."  Newseek Source

This poll shows a stunning victory for civil rights and freedoms in this country. Almost 3/4 fully support the privacy rights involved in a decision for abortion, while an almost equal amount willingly acknowledge abortion is the taking of a human life. In other words, the prolife message regarding abortion taking a human life saturates our culture, yet an overwhelming majority also fully understand abortion is nowhere near equal to the killing of a 40 year old married mother with 3 kids.

We should all be pleased that;

1. Freedom and civil rights are not dead in our society
2. The prolife equation that unborn=person has failed
3. We understand government has no business interfering in private medical decisions
4. The government has no right to force birth on anyone.

The only questions are, will the prolife ever offer a logically valid argument to convince society what abortion should be banned? Will they ever be able to prove abortion is harmful? Will they ever admit the unborn=person equation has utterly and completely failed to convince the voters?

A CBS News poll conducted annually says consistently that the pro-life position, that abortion should be banned altogether, is only supported by around 25% of the public.  I think one year it got to 30%, but that was it.

Usually a much higher number -- in the forties percentage-wise -- says abortion should be permitted without restrictions (what pro-lifers call "abortion on demand").  The remaining 25-30% say that abortion should continue to be permitted, but with some restrictions (which is basically where the law is now, post-Casey and post-Carhart II).

it's always that damned 30% of bible thumpers that messes up things. I feel they messed up the last election and got Bush elected and now we are caught in this illegal war where we have lost 90 billion tax dollars, Bush and cronies destroyed all of our environmental protection laws and they have killed what is estimated to be 1 million Iraqi citizens and turned Iraq into a civil war zone. Well there aren't enough of them to ruin legal abortion..but they had enough people standing on the line to ruin our election so now we have a President with an IQ of 60.

What did the people with an IQ of 60 ever do to you in order to deserve such an insult?
