"Apocalypse Now" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" are still tied for my favorite movie of all time. |

My wife and I saw "The Help" last night, and all I can say is WOW! Well, OK, I guess I can say a bit more. The acting was top-shelf all the way, and the story line was excellent, imo. I also thought "The Descendents" also was quite good as it sort of had a European flare to it-- lots of dialogue and character developement. |

My top three are Casablanca, The Shawshank Redemption and The Wrestler.

"The Wrestler" was fantastic. "Saving Private Ryan," "Das Boot" and "Blade Runner" are also very high on my list. "Dinner for Schmucks" was also one the best, completely mentally twisted, comedies I've seen in a while. |

Yes I greatly enjoyed "The Help" as well. Glad Octavia Spencer won . Wanted Viola Davis to win as well. But Ms. Streep was overdue. Favorite movies- I have lots. "The Best Years of Our Lives" ranks up there. "Shawshank Redemption" too. "Rocky" "Hud"-because of Patricia Neal. Irene.

Blazing Saddles was a great comedy until the liberals turned it into a silent movie. I think the Girl with the dragon tattoo should have received more awards, especially supporting actress. |

The War Horse is one of my favorite Steven Spielberg movies. The story of a magnificent horse named Joey and Albert really moved me. As the story set the stage at WWI, I feel confused why there is clear the difference between the soldiers who are taken prisoner and shot and the animals who are inherently neutral and thus commoditized. Men are cruller when facing the conflicts between them, but it seems animals are neutral and can be free from being shot no matter whom it belongs to. I cannot understand that. |
