The AP is reporting that House is ending its 8-year series. . . this season!  Like, with next week's show.

This seems kind of sudden, to me.  Have I been out of the loop on this?

The show’s producers - including its star, Hugh Laurie - said it was a “painful” decision but that the time had come to bring House to a close.  They didn't say why that time has come, though.  They just said in a statement today that they imagined Dr. House to be an “enigmatic creature,” and that it was best for him to vanish while there was still mystery in the air.
