IMO ... no, Friends isn't funny  It's just, well, pathetic.

My take on Friends is that it was a dumbed-down version of Seinfeld.

Yes, Dr. Kildare made Richard Chamberlin a star.
But what really made him a major star was when he began to act in major mini series
like "Shogun,& The Thorn Birds"

Yes, Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey. And I think that Dr. K is what made Richard Chamberlain a star.

I think that it's pretty sad and pretty unbelievable that there are so many healthy, powerful, and healing foods that I have learned about from watching "The Doctor Oz Show"...but unfortunately, most Americans from their childhood on up, have only learned how to eat what is essentially equivalent to 'garbage'...and are basically in a 'slumber' when it comes to not having a clue as to what that kind of food is doing to their bodies and to their health. It's really sad.

I'll check out that "Up all night"

I may have to stop watching "Up All Night" unless I'm at home on Thursday nights because NBC moved it from Wednesdays to Thursday nights at 9:00 or 9:30...which is when "Person Of Interest" comes on. Also, I record all the shows that I watch so that I won't miss them...and POI is going to get recorded on Thursday nights.

Friends was one of the last comidies I watched on television.
I'm a cop/medical/law drama junkie from way back.
My first doctor drama was Dr.Kildare  back in the 1960's.
I have that show to thank for my being alive, especially an episode called
"Tyger,Tyger" based upon the William Blake poem.
It was about a surfer who was diagnosed with Epilepsy.
I had been diagnosed about 2 years prior to its airing.
That episode showed me what could happen if I stopped taking my medication.

The other day, I ended up watching FRIENDS, I've probably seen four episodes in my life, and couldn't help but be distracted by the extremely heavy use of canned laughter.  I mean it was really 22 minutes of solid laff box.

I stumbled across this video that someone made.  It is ten minutes of a FRIENDS episode with the laugh track deleted.  You hardly miss a word because apparently the actors pause for the post-production laughter.

After watching this, do you think F•R•I•E•N•D•S is still funny?

I watchted about a minute of this, but you could hear where the person deleted or supressed the laugh track...and something about that threw me off. Therefore, I don't think that it was necessarily the absence of the laugh track that made me laugh, but being able to hear the laugh track being surpressed or deleted is what caused me not to laugh.

Here's another one that is absolutely unfunny with no laugh track, 44 seconds of Big Bang Theory:

I thought it was kind of funny, but I was kind of waiting for the punch line(which never seemed to have occurred) to make me laugh.

Well, if it's really is funny and has a laugh track, I will laugh. But sometimes even with the laugh track I won't laugh at something because it just wasn't funny.

Also, there's a new NBC sitcom called "Up All Night" starring Christina Applegate(from "Married With Children") and Maya Rudolph(from "Saturday Night Live") that doesn't have a laugh track and the show makes me laugh out loud. Also Maya Rudolph is harilious in that show.

I will admit the very last words in the video are HILARIOUS, Phoebe is PISSED.  (Lisa Kudrow:  "--Yeah I get that")
