Also, Steven, here are a few links that I had bookmarked for CDs of 'World' Pop artists and songs that I heard on Old Accuradio that you might be familiar with:
I think that it's pretty sad and pretty unbelievable that there are so many healthy, powerful, and healing foods that I have learned about from watching "The Doctor Oz Show"...but unfortunately, most Americans from their childhood on up, have only learned how to eat what is essentially equivalent to 'garbage'...and are basically in a 'slumber' when it comes to not having a clue as to what that kind of food is doing to their bodies and to their health. It's really sad.

"Hmmm. So you're saying that for Jesus' followers(throughout the centuries) to truly live a 'godly' life, they had to believe that the end of the world was just around the corner?"
"Although, I think that I'll change that to: Also...I liked the way that you dodged what I had said about being 'concerned that the Bible had to use subterfuge as a means to an end' in my post #137."
"It's utterly beyond belief, that the wealthiest country in the history of the world, fails to care for all it's people."

I don't listen to any Western contemporary Pop music, but I do enjoy modern Pop from Japan, China, Mongolia and from various African countries and South American countries.
Steven, I had forgotten about this, but about a year or so ago, I started to listen to Accuradio.com's( well, it was actually Old Accuradio: old.accuradio.com/world/ at the time) "World" music stations. Particularly the 'Putumayo showcase' channel, although I also listened to the 'World Music' channel(now called 'One World'), the 'Radio Preciso' channel, and the 'Africa Calls' channel.
I really enjoyed the music and listened to those channels for about 3 months straight.
Also, I had found some videos from some of the songs from those channels that I really liked:
Also, please don't blame me that Justin Beiber is included in one of the channels.

Also, I think that the song and the artist who got me back listening to today's Pop music was this song that came out in the summer of 2010, called "California Gurls" by Kate Perry.
And speaking of Perry, I just thought about this Country group called The Band Perry who has this really nice sounding Pop crossover hit called, "If I Die Young."
It's a slow-tempoed kind of spiritual song...and even if you don't like Pop music, I would think that most people who have heard this song probably likes it.
One of the prettiest ballads that I have heard in a long time.

However, for about the last year or so, I started to notice that the music had started to sound more melodic and more enjoyable. And now, it seems like this is the only genre of music that I really like to listen to.
Hey, I have a confession to make. I've gone back to primarily listening to my 'actual' favorite type of music, which is light jazz. But what happened is that when I was listening some of the internet Pop radio stations that I listened to...they kept playing a lot of the type of Pop songs that I don't particulary care for. Therefore, I had to go back to my light jazz.
However, I still like much of the music by artists who have come out with fun, melodic music that makes you smile inside.

As a matter of fact, I like just about anything that Kate Perry does. Plus, I love her personality. Also, she has a very interesting bio where she was raised in a strict Christian Fundamentalist home. But check out her story sometime while you're on the web.
I also like this song by Niki Monja called "Super Bass."
Also, if you watched the Super Bowl, these are the guys who performed with Madonna at halftime.

I love ADELE!!! That woman has a wonderful voice, and I love good singers.
Didn't she win about 3 Grammys in the major categories? Also, it's good to know that she recovered from her illness and was able to get her voice back.
I'm close to 60, but had children 'late', so of course I listen to modern pop and rock music - had to!
Adele is a keeper, definitely. I also love Rob Thomas. The first time I noticed him he was still singing with Matchbox 20. Then I bought a Santana CD because there was a song on it I liked and I discovered Rob Thomas wrote it. Now he's on my 'always buy' short list.
Maroon 5. . .
I also like Rob Thomas' voice and the song that he did with Santana, which kind of launched his career.
Also, I like a lot of Maroon 5's songs(even though I don't have any of their albums)...and after watching the new series(2nd season) of "The Voice," I've really come to like lead singer Adam Levine as a person.
And yes, I like the Beatles. I will always like the Beatles. :-)

Maroon 5, Death Cab for Cuties - I tend to like particular songs/singers more than particular groups - my CDs include KT Tunstall and Carole King, the Beatles and Finger Eleven, Adele and Bruce Springsteen, all next to each other. Right along with Simon and Garfunkle, everything by Enya, Yaakov Shwekey and Bonepony - that last group is Appalachian Stomp, out of Nashville.

I'm 57, was born in 1954 in Staten Island, then the "Borough of Richmond". Lived one year in Brooklyn on Eastern Parkway, between Nostrand & Pacific Streets. when I was three we moved to Queens and that's where I've spent most of my life.
I was 17 when I worked at Capitol Records in 1972 and 18 when I was fired. one of Capitol's major groups was The Beach Boy's. They're still a major group, they made the "genre known as the Surf sound" Jan & Dean were another group who owe their fame to the Beach Boys.
The group is celebrating it's 50th year this year and a major tour is scheduled. Brian Wilson one of the founding members along with his cousin Mike Love, Al Jardine and some other musicians are reforming to celebrate this occasion.
Two Founding members, Carl & Denis Wilson have passed away. Brian, is the father of Carnie & Wendy Wilson of "Wilson/Phillips"
Ed2: I listen to all kinds of music except RAP. I'm a child of the 1950's grew up in the 1960's. Became an adult in 1973-1974 when I had to learn how to help take care of my mother who became ill with a brain tumor. I had to do the cooking and washing, while I was still a teenager. I was 18 when she got sick and 19 when she died.
At the age of 17/18 I worked at Capitol Records as Chief Receptionist. I was taught Grand Opera at the age of 4.
I love Adele,Lady Antebelleum,coldplay,The Black Eye'd Peas,The Beach Boys bon Jovi,Aerosmith,matchbox Twenty, Lady Gaga, Rihanna,Usher
As I type I'm listening to Music Choice's Pop hits channel on my television.
Hello, Marlene and everyone else. And thank you for your participation in this thread.
Also, I'm sorry to hear that you had so much difficultly when you were a teenager. Plus, I'm sorry to hear about you losing your mother at such a very young age. That must have been pretty devasating at that age.
Also, it sounds like we are around the same age as I graduated from high school in the 1973-1974 school year.(Turned 18 in the summer of 74.)
But as far as music goes, I also like at least one song by Adele("Rolling In The Deep"), and I wasn't sure about Lady Antebelleum, but I looked them up and I like "Need You Now," and I love two songs by The Black Eye'd Peas, "Boom Boom Pow" and "The Time"...which is a remake of "Time of Our Life" from the movie Dirty Dancing....and The Beach Boys...The Beach Boys???? Aren't they from the 60s? lol But continuing....well, I'm jumping over the other 'old' groups - lol -and will continue with Rihanna. Now I know that there are some songs by her that I like(and I'm not going to look them up), but there are other songs by her that are just plain annoying. :-) And Usher's cool, although I really don't know what songs he does except for the song he performed on Oprah last year called "OMG."
But a few other new artists that I liked are....or should I say their songs because usually I only know a few songs by the new artists...are Hot Chelle Rae and their songs "I Like It Like That"....
There's more, but that's enough youthful, rebellious energy for tonight. lol (But weren't those fun songs?) :-)
